MyLot profile question

Have you noticed that a lot of members don't seem to match their profile. If you notice when they post a question, it is an odd one to match their age? And, same as for their gender.

That could be because not all of us are the age that we really are. I am 58, but in my mind I am a much younger person, I think kids can do that to you. I did daycare, for 26 years, and I think those kids I watched, kept me younger than my years. I don't think I will ever THINK or seem old.

Be aware, match the quote to the age, and you will see what I am saying.

I have only been here for a few days and have noticed some strange things .... people who are supposed to live in one country or claim that they are a certain nationality yet their words tell a different story. Then those who claim to be a certain age ..... and they ask questions I would expect to see from someone either much younger or much older. People can be anyone they choose to be on the internet ...... there is no way of checking for certain but it is annoying to see some of the silly questions they ask. The gender thing .... true too ... here I have been thinking these people might be a little bit confused about who or what they really are ..... glad it is not just me noticing these things.

You notice things too! :) That is one thing..I have notice in a case where it appears the guy and girl takes turns posting discussions here as a single entity. No proof however the discussions to me are obvious. Also one talks of with parents, yet adult, kids, no wife, no girlfriend and then again talks of girlfriend. It makes you wonder if some of us are pretending on here to be something that we are not. That sure takes energy and you dance long enough you make a mistep. We shall keep our eyes open for any more anomalies!!! Thanks for sharing yours!!

I see it a lot on here. One person I emailed about it, and they didn't respond back. Made me think that their kid deleted it, as it was not the same style or intelligence as the rest of their posts.

Kids being around mom and seeing that she writes on here, decides when she isn't home to take over, I could see that happening. It used to happen in a chat room I frequented, and you certainly could tell the difference between the two.

Oh my god have I noticed this. It really makes me mad when people do this. What is the point, who would trust them? I saw one a couple of weeks ago that said they were 76 and I had looked at their profile because I thought it was a kid. I probably am right..lol I notice there are also alot of what seems to be men posing as women too. I don't really know what they think they accomplish by this..it's beyond me. I guess it really doesn't matter but it's just deceitful.

Yeh, it isn't fun when I discover this. I have no idea why they must be dishonest. Thanks for your opinion.

I never have checked ages usually when I respond to a Discussion, but occassionally I have notices some of the people on here are responding just to be responding and posting New stuff on here for a Discussion that makes you Stop and wonder what is the Truth, and what is real.

When I notice such oddities, I report it to MyLot for them to check it out. If it is a typo on the members end it is fixed, if it is a cheater, they are removed.

Really, they remove them? There are so many. The responses definately don't sound as if they are adults.

I think that will allways be a problem on the internet ... Some are sincere, some just like to be another person... Probably because they are not happy with whom they really are, they start to impose as the person they would like to be ... I think that is one of the problems on the internet that never will be solved.

Yes I did noticed that and I thought I was crazy for thinking it. I can never tell the gender any more. Maybe their lieing about their real age. What do you think? Its possible.

I have noticed this quite frequently also. I also notice that someone often posts about having problems with a husband in one discussion, then a cheating boyfriend in another, and days later he's turned into an abusive partner... We never truly know who's behind the words that are typed here. That is one of the most frustrating things about communicating via the Internet. At least most of us are sane, mature adults and this doesn't pose much of a problem, but I can see why parents worry so much about teenagers on the computer. It can be a very dangerous place for kids who are vulnerable and lack the maturity to make responsible life decisions. Generally I find that the profiles here that just don't "seem right" are associated with users who start discussions that I am not at all interested in, so I don't deal with them much. I try to stay away from a lot of the histrionic and melodramatic posts; maybe I'm a pessimist, but I often think that people are making up all kinds of things just to get attention and money here.

I have only noticed once and this was because someone pointed it out. They guy was asking questions about what he could do to help his 18 year old daughter and he was only something like 21. Weird.

That is exactly what I mean. Or they have their gender as one thing, and ask questions as if they are the other. Or ask questions like a child, and have their age as over 60.

I did not really notice that untill one of my friends sent me a pm asking if I was really 86 years old! I checked and sure enough there it was 86. I also checked when I got a spam/scam from "obisco" telling me the African sob story. That profile said the person was from India and quite old. Other wise I don't pay much attention. Maybe I should.

I`ve noticed that too. If the story seems far fetched I will check out their profile and it`s a totally different age, etc. I think some make stories up so they get lots of responses.

Yeah, I've noticed that as well. I've also noticed quite a few posting questions about their "wife", then another post will ask something about a friend in high school lol. Think they're just trying to find something to talk about. As far as the gender not matching, who knows....

I have wondered especially on the ages. I tried to ask this question tactfully in a discusssion. I know of one 78 year old who has a one year old baby here on myLot-riiiiiight. I can see where that could be a typo, as I see this a lot, or is a processing glitch from myLot. On the other hand, if their profile has a gender and then the discussions posted switch back and forth, and get more sensational all the time, you have to feel like the poster copies other discussions from "Somewhere" to post. If the gender switches just occassionally, and is not extreme, you might suppose it is a couple using one account. I made my hubby get his own account, though.

I just noticed this about an hour ago. I have one friend whom I thought looked very attractive and to-day she posted a topic which seemed a bit weird, so I took another look at her profile. The topic would appear to have been posted by a male as he/she was looking for advice on how to handle a problem with his girlfriend. Now I am totally confused.

I haven't really ever noticed this. I have read posts on here that have talked about this kind of thing before so I know it happens. But I guess there will always be people like that.

Really? I hadn't noticed this yet. I wander if we have young children in here? It may be a bad thing for them to view some of the topics posted here, if so.

I am sure there is. Some of the responses and posts sound like kids. Not the age on the profile.
