Mattress Warmers....I couldn't live without mine.

8 years ago my husband had a surprise for me. He couldn't wait to get me to go to bed. Now, now, not that kind of surprise! I hated crawling into bed at night. The sheets were ice cold and so were the blankets. It took forever to get warm enough to fall asleep. I stripped and jumped into bed as fast as I could drawing the covers over my head. But on that night I was not shocked into shivers, warmth enveloped me. Ahhhhhhh, what was this? It was an electric mattress warmer. No more cold nights. Now if we could only afford one with dual controls. Hubby complains that the bed is too warm for him. He likes it less warm than me. I like it toasty.

Sounds great! But we'd need dual controls also. My personal thermostat is never the same. Sometimes I get cold and want extra blankets, some days I don't want any. When it is really cold, my feet stay cold forever and I'm always trying to put them on hubby! LOL A mattress warmer would keep them nice and toasty!

I have never owned a waterbed. The sloshing sound would increase the need to rise from bed to go pee.

I have a waterbed and like you it is toasty warm no need for a bed warmer. As for the slshing you can get the mattress that has no movement. They have all kinds out there. As well as you i fell i have the most comfortable.

I love mine, too. It is so joyful to feel that warmth instead of the cold sheets. I like it toasty and sometimes I hit the snooze a couple extra times so I can enjoy it a little longer in the morning.

I think I need one of those. I know how you feel about getting into an icy bed. I don't like it very warm when I sleep but those sheets can be a shocker sometimes. One control would work for me because my boyfriend is the same as me. I would only use it to warm up the sheets but then I would probably turn it off. How much does one of these cost and where can I find one?

I think we paid around $60-80 for a queen size.

Thanks, I'll probably go check it out soon. We are expecting "brutally" cold temps coming in a few days, thats what the weatherman is saying.

You're gonna think I'm crazy but I love the feeling of crisp cool sheets when I slide into bed!!! LOL Even in winter! Then to pull up that big fluffy comforter and snuggle... ahhhh. I think I'd miss my cool sheets if I had a warmer!

I have an electric blanket, and it is wonderful! I love heating it up on high so that it's nice and warm when I get into bed, and then I turn it down lower. I use a down blanket on top of it to help hold the heat in. I also like it to be toasty warm; it's a good thing that it has dual controls, because my boyfriend can't stand it hot. He would have a window open if I would allow it!

I am the same way, I can't stand jumping into a cold bed either. That's why I have a dog, LOL.

I always used to have an electric blanket on my bed .. it's brilliant isn't it .. I do like to feel cosy in bed ... But I can't use an electric blanket on an electric adjustable bed and I simply couldn't afford the model that had a preheat mode built in .. so this winter I had had to revert back to flanelette sheets .. my goodness I'd forgotten who much fluff they make .. but at least I am cosily warm from the minute I get into bed ..

I have always wanted to try one of those, but they are so expensive in a king size. I absolutely hate the feeling of those cold sheets when I first go to bed. Of course ,everything is bad for you in some way, I remember a while back that electric blankets were supposedly not good due to electromagnetic fields or some such bunk. Do you know if 'they' have said the same about mattress warmers?

I was thinking of getting one of those for my wife she always is cold. I would have the same problem as your hubby, I find the bed too warm most of the time so I will take your advise and be sure to get the dual control when we do get one. We actually were talking about it the other night and she said she would rather have an electric blanket than the mattress pad, we will see.

I have thought about getting an electric blanket, but not sure it will warm the bed as much as the mattress warmer.

That's is great!!! ha ha Your hubby was so concerned and caring that he went out and got you a mattress warmer! That is so awesome! No wonder he wanted you to come to bed! I sure hope you praised him for such a thoughtful thing! But, I am sure you did. And no, I don't mean that way either! LOL That is so sweet! I already have a mattress warmer...it is called my partner. He is all over the bed when I am not in it and I swear he is like a life sized walking furnace!!! So, the sheets are nice and warm when I crawl in. Only problem...can't turn off this mattress warmer in the summer! LOL

My hubby was my bed warmer too. The problem was whenever I put my ice cold feet on him to warm them he would jump a mile!

I am thrilled to hear that they last tht long. We bought one two years ago, and it does have dual controls. I was just wondering how long it would be before I would need a new one. We liked ours so well we got one for each of our kids, and for the two grandkids at the time. Do you have any special care tips? We actually got ours because it was recommended for arthritis. I started a similar discussion my first week here at myLot. Got some good responses, too.

I would like to get one for my daughter. She is so stiff in the morning when she gets up. This would be ideal for her.

I've wondered about those. Can you feel the wires in it? Is it too hot? We would have to have dual controls also. I like to be a little on the cool side at night, Hubby likes the warm and cozy feel. I will check them out thanks for sharing! Pleasant dreams.

I have a feather topper on the mattress cover so I do not feel the wires. I turn it on a couple of hours before bedtime and turn it off when I climb into bed. It doesn't take me long to nod off.

Butterfly, Coming from an old lesbian this may really shock someone - but I want to go to bed with your husband! To me there is nothing better than a cool bed, even in the midst of winter. I always keep my satin lavender eye pillows/ in the freezer so I can put one over my eyes when I go to bed. They help to keep me cool ~Donna

I didn't know they even made matress warmers. My husband and I are always complaining about cold sheets. He even suggested flannel sheets, which I wasn't that excited about. But a mattress warmer sounds like the fix. He will just love it. thanks.
