Microsoft VISTA, tell me the power of this OS

So far it does a good job of patching up previous problems, but it is incompatible with alot of older programs. Alot of companies are not selling it with their computer due to it's newness and incompatibilities. Microsoft is famous for releasing a product and then having the user end up reporting the problems instead of testing it throughly themselves. The biggest portion of Vista is a new window manager (graphical interface). I am guessing it does a great job of using up half your memory, and looking real "perty". Seems odd that other operating systems have easily embraced the idea of "pick your own window manager" where Microsoft believes there can be only one, and not only that has to release a whole new version to release a change. My advise is to wait until it has been tested (by ppl who buy it) more throughly before jumping into it.
