With a lot of talk at the moment going on about saving the world before it's too late ... would you [or do you!] drink recycled or desalinated water?
Desalinated water is seawater that's been processed to be fresh and recycled is ... well I'm sure you can guess! Recycled water just goes through a giant filter/purifier to become fresh
They say that only 2% of the worlds water is "fresh" and that we are fast running out of the stuff as the population is booming!
Scientists and studies show that it is safe and it would have the same properties as the water that currently comes out of your tap ... So ... would you drink it?? If only to save the planet ... or is the idea of drinking something that didn't come from the clouds just something that makes your stomach churn?

There is every chance you are drinking recycled water anyhow! Water doesn't appear from nowhere... some drinking water comes from boreholes which should be decent quality as the water has filtered through many layers of rock, but other water can be from rivers and canals and reservoirs. Reservoir water is made up from rainwater which will have been previously evaporated from the earths surface and obviously river water and canal water can be made up from water discharged from industrial processes etc...
The key is that the water is processed properly, it is almost irelevant where the source water is from as long as it has been treated to a high standard.
So the question is not really 'would you drink it' as the vast majority of the population actually are on a daily basis... the only concern that I have is that it is not wasted...

Of course I would drink recycled water. People who are able to drink recycled drinking water are participating in priviledge, more priviledge than many people on this planet have. Everytime somebody has access to clean tap water, and then buys bottled water instead, this is an act of elitism. =( I am grateful to have clean tap water and even recycled water.
I think its really awful that the Australian govt. knew more than 10 years ago about the water shortages and didn't do more to conserve water and impliment cleaner environmental practices. =( I'm really worried about the bacteria stuff... I'm glad that australia at least has the resources to filter the water...
