Is affiliate marketing advisable?

I actually signed up for an affiliate marketing program over a year ago (namely SFI marketing)& am definitely not working on it--I'm just curious though whether it's advisable? or should I just opt out of it? Coz to be honest, I found it a bit overwhelming but does one really earn from it if you focus on it?
Anybody into any kind of affiliate marketing? insights are deeply appreciated...thanks!

I few months ago I started doing affiliate marketing. What has worked for me is focusing on one product and provide useful information around that product. Providing good content with your affiliate makes money. If you dont make a sale place adwords. Sometimes you can generate money from adwords even if you dont get a sale from your affilate links.

Thanks for the tips, jtexas! Focusing on one product does make sense--even if venturing to different kinds really sounds tempting (coz there's just soo many out there, --I don't really know for sure sometimes who or which products are worth it!) but yup, I have heard about the dangers of spreading oneself too thinly...Will definitely look into adwords sometime =)

Affiliate marketing can work. You have to find one with a product people want. You also have to work at it in the beginning. The larger your downline the better. In the beginning you will have to work hard.

The problem with most affiliate programs is that not so many of us like or can recruite and build a network. There are some who promote for you and give you paid referrals even before you pay and then they have a deadline for you to upgrade in order to keep the referrals.
You can stay in SFI as a free member and promote the gateways and see if you make some sales. It is possible to become an executive affiliate just by making sales and invite the referrals to join Nice offers and use the coupons.
I am testing SFI too, and hope that some of my affiliates upgrade soon.
SFI has also some products that are useful, I might buy a place in Great Domania and I am building websites throgh Very Vip, which is a good product for International members if you can afford to pay for it.
So far I have got some discount from the things I have bought and it may give some income too in the future only from the Powerline.
The Eagle Coop is a help for those who need referrals so I should join it - when I can afford it of course.
I hope this helps you a little.

Thanks for best response! I probably think much the same way as you do - better earn the money on Internet first and then upgrade in some reliable program.
I am trying to tell people where I live about myLot but so far only one or two have shown some interest. Now I have a banner in Aussieearners promoting this site, we´ll see if it works.

exactly my problem, buenavida! Hehe, even here in mylot, I only have a lone referral ;)...Thanks for the tips regarding SFI & you did help, thanks! (because frankly, I really haven't spent my time there lately & haven't been up to date) & I sure do hope for your success in SFI! Hopefully you become an EA soon!
Yup,& that's my other setback, I really don't want to shell out money yet since I haven't been able to make more time in focusing on it (I'm figuring, I have to be REALLY serious at it before I shell out any money lest I regret it later on) You have a nice day! =)

I think you made a wise choice in joining My Power Mall. I've seen this SFI site before, and never thought much about it. When I saw My Power Mall, I knew it was the right one to join. It's free to join, has free business tools, already in over 100 countries in 12 weeks. Congrats on joining My Power Mall.

You & me both, Terri =) I don't know, for some reason, I really also felt good about the concept of My Power Mall--not being affiliate marketing or MLM...just being a league of its own...+ doing a search on it was also good & found just good stuff about it...& their founder, Ginny Dye--just seems so genuine--have you read her news? She just seems so intent on helping out people & so far I was also lucky to have a supportive sponsor =)...am even planning on joining their banner & design contests! do hope I can win =)
Though sad part is not a lot of people have been responsive to my marketing--any tips would be deeply appreciated! =)Thanks
You enjoy your day now =)

Thanks for the tips, terri =) will try it out--though wish me luck since I have dial-up & more often than not, the audio is choppy because of the connection...I did try replying to discussions a couple of times but have yet to get someone to join me, but that's all right...I guess I'm also still trying to learn the ropes as it is...but I did get 1 under me now =) though am not sure how she learned about it but hopefully that in time, more people will get interested in MPM...
I just love its concept of how it just doesn't focus on making you successful but there are actual things going on that are helping other people & the environment in the process!
Best of luck to us & enjoy your weekend! =)
