why are people afraid of GHOSTS???

Probably because people think that ghosts can hurt them.

i don't know . maybe they are frightened

i am afraid of ghosts . my grandma told me story of ghosts. i like to listening story. but after that at night i afraid of ghosts.

I think it has something to do with the way the movies potrayed them. In the movies they are the bad guys and they are always hurting people. With that in mind, people think that if they see any, they'll get hurt by them. So, thanks to the movies that is happening.

fear of the unknown

People have a general fear of the unknown. Plus, how many scary stories about ghosts and the like did you hear growing up?

...I wondered about this too... it's the same with reported 'alien' abductions.. the people who report them have been so fearful as to be quite traumatized.. Then I found a connection between e.t.'s and "entities", that Aleister Crowley (famed satanist) had worked rituals to "open the gates so interdimensional entities could enter the earth plane" and 'conjured' up, or brought through/met an entity called Lam, who when described by Crowley greatly resembles the large headed and large eyed e.t.'s who are said to probe abductees.. I believe all these entities are demons and devils, the 1/3 fallen angels who joined (angel) Lucifer in his insurrection and trickery against God and mankind... and deep down we know this and the entities make our fine hairs stand on end.. [Although not always! as is evidenced by the huge amounts of great evils in the world.]

Well, if you have never experience anything, than of course you're going to say that they are not real. I am a religious person and know that ghost are real. I think when one believes in something, he develops good/bad feelings about it..be it God or Ghosts...they are all creations of men!!

Probably because its something that isn't easily explainable. People naturally have a hard time adjusting to something that isn't easy to explain. It mostly comes down to faith and the majority of people need facts not beliefs.

I believe in ghosts but I'm not afraid of them, because I think they haven't a material force and they don't want to frighten us

mostly i think people are afraid because of those disturbing illusions that people generate in their minds.. maybe there are somewhat real appearance of unknown entities that others may witness. now this unknown entity generates different distorted thoughts inside the witness' mind making him or her scared or even worst, paranoid.

I think the reason why a lot of people are afraid of ghosts is because little children are usually scared by older people that evil spirits will take them if they won't behave well. many parents, especially nannies who uses ghosts as a tactic to make their children sleep early. because of that, kids would always refer and connote the word ghosts as something bad, ugly and evil. these practise is being past on to generations and generations so right now, it's really hard to disassociate ghosts with fear

I think people are afraid of ghosts because we can't see them. We don't know how they think (if they think) and we don't know what they do.

If we have good knowlege means we should not feared or if we are religion pewrson means we should not worry about ghost

hmmmmmmmm even u r..!! if someone tellz abt a ghost or some unbelivable incident we jus laugh ..evven make fun of it..but when u go throu such kinda cases u wil sure b afraid..!!

i think ghost is not there. only thing is we are believing that ghost is there when we are alone. so when we are alone our mind changes and thinks in deep results in fear. thats y people are afraid of ghosts.

why? maybe coz there are some scary movies about ghosts? or scary stories? i dont know. i am not afraid of them

i think you should go in a graveyard like place at night and in dark, alone, will find the reason

because its something new and supernatural. and also some imaginations had made a scary view of ghosts.
