Do you think it's fair to have your children do chores around the house? If so, do you pay them or do you think it should just be part of what they do as a member of the family? I have heard many different opinions. Some people think chores should be done just to help out and should in NO WAY be tied to allowances. What's your opinion?

I expect my children to help with chores and they are only 5 and 8. They can do things like empty the dishwasher, make their beds, wash the patio door window, dustbust the floor. I don't overwork them by any means and I don't pay them for it. I don't want them to expect to get paid every time they help someone. However, I want them to learn what means to earn a dollar---just haven't figured out how to do that yet.
