Is Shane Warne the greatest spinner ever?

Aussie Shane Warne formally announced his retirement on Thursday. With one short of 700 wickets, not only is he the leading wicket-taker, he's certainly a modern cricketing icon. There have been some great spinners in the past. But many do feel that Shane Warne would rank among the best in any era.

First thing i shoud tell u, Shane Warne has taken more than 700 test wickets. He has taken 708 wickets at the time of retirement. Secondly, I believe Shane Warne is not the best spinner in the world. But He is surely the best "Leg Spinner" of the World. I dont think so, such a leg spinner with that caliber will again be produced.. Shane Warne is more of a magician than a bowler. But his geniusness is equally matched by "Muttiah Muralitharan". Murali is also one of the best spinner of the world, if u dont think he is best But I give edge to Muralitharan because he has already taken 700 test wickets and he is just 9 wickets short of becoming the highest wicket taker in cricket history. And the way he is playing, he will surely gonna take something around 1000 Test wickets. That will be amazing....

The Stats are also in the favour of Muttiah Muralitharan.. Shane Warne has taken 708 wickets in 145 matches with an average of 25.41, best of 8/71 in an innings and has taken 37 five wicket hauls.. On the Other hand Muralitharan has taken 700 wickets till date in 113 test matches with an average of 21.33, best of 9/51 in an innings and has taken 60 five wicket hauls.. Just see, 60 five wicket hauls in 113 matches by Muralitharan!! isn't it amazing??

Well, that sounds too bad, but I do hope he enjoys his retirement. I wish I can get an early retirement myself. Best of wishes to him.
