I fall asleep with the tv on all the time. I can't sleep when it is really quiet so I need some kind of noise. The only thing it is doing is raising your electric bill

It's not a good habit: there is some scientific concern that leaving the light on for children can cause damage to their sight over a long period. Apart from that your brain doesn't get the kind of rest it needs when it's permanently in the light. I know many parents leave lights on for children when they're small, but it's better to encourage them to learn to sleep in the dark for their long term health.

You are wasting tremendous amounts of electricity! Haven't you heard that we need to conserve energy to prevent the acceleration of global warming? And I promise the boogie man will not get you!

I sometimes go to the living room and sleep with the light on, becuase my hubby does not like the light. How ever; sleeping in total darkness or total light. It does not follow the natural light out side. The moon realy effect how your homones are regulated even for men, so if you sleep in either extreme you are feasibly messing with them. Not to mention your natural circadian rythem.
