Have you ever tried bookmaking or altering books? You could bind papers from the junk mail together, then paint over them, collage on top of them, block out words to make it say something completely new, whatever! Ha, I might try this. I think it would be a nice theme to work around for a book.

Have you thought of getting yourself put on the preferential mailing service so that most of the junk mail will just stop showing up? You can do this online and its free, it just takes you address off the registers that the junk mail companies can legally use. Apart from that, always post mail back to companies (put 'not known at this address' or 'returned to sender' on the front and put it back in the postbox) and obviously the rest just goes right into the recycling. Its really important to fight back against junkmail, these companies are wilfully damaging the planet.

What is the web site name for stopping junk mail?.
I know some of mine is due to entering competitions but it's still annoying.

Depending on the junk mail, you can make a lot of things out of it. At Christmas time, I use pages from umwanted catalogues to make envelopes for home-made Christmas cards. You could also do it to make funky envelopes if you write letters to a pen pal or something.
Also, have you ever made paper beads? I'm sure you could find better directions somewhere, but all you do is cut long strips of paper in a triangle kind of shape. Then you roll them around a piece of string (starting with the fat end of the triangle) and just glue it up as you go along.
Saving interesting pictures and words can also be nice to add to scrapbooks and hand-made cards.

I too would suggest making your own paper. There are several cheap starter kits available. You can make some really interesting papers for stationary and what not. I have a friend who makes jewelry out of the paper she makes from junk mail. It is surprising cool stuff.
