Is having a dream always a good thing?

Brad dream of becoming a famous singer one day.he works hard to make his dream come true.he sings in the school choir and performs with a band on weekends.
Brad doesn't work so hard on his schoolwork,however.and his grades show it .he ranks near the bottom of his class.his close friend John has tried to encourage him to work harder in school.but Brad always says,"why should i?i am going to be a famous singer someday."the problem is Brad does not really sing that well.John worries that his friend is throwing away his future on a pipe dream.

Personally I think having a dream is important. However, one also must be realistic about one's own strengths and talents - whether they have what it takes to make the dream come true. It will be good to ask advice or have someone experienced to guide him. If Brad is still young, he definitely needs some help from an older person so that he can do some evaluation.

One should always have a concrete
educational back ground before dreaming
about his future or profession, I think.
A educated and knowledged person achives
a higher success when he starts his carrier
or any of his hobby.
The carrier, hobby and profession are,
the second next mile stone in journey of life.
The education is a need as well as
a robust personality in itself.

Having a dream is important.
But people must realize that dreams sometimes do not come true or take many years to accomplish.
Therefore it is not good to not have a backup plan to your dream. You must have a way of supporting yourself until you can make your dream come true.

Yes, it serves as an outlet. It generates creativity and ideas. It makes us think out of the box. Some people think that day-dreaming is a waste of time but when you actually ask the person what they were day-dreaming about some of their answers are very deep and complicated. I was once scolded for day-dreaming in class and when my teacher asked me what I was dreaming about I replied with a lot of complicated things that even my teacher was astonished.
