Does The Street Sweeper Come Down Your Road?

No I don't have a street sweeper near where I live, however when I was little I used to watch the garbage men go by and dump the trash, I used to love it. If I am home and I hear them I look out the window and watch my trash get dumped..I know that sounds silly but it is just a fun little thing to watch. Recently I was in Tahoe, California and there was a Street Sweeper in the middle of the road (in the middle of the afternoon) holding up trafic. I was on a walk with about seven other people and he almost ran us, and a few other cars, over. Im not sure if they are supposed to be careful and watch out for pedistrains and oncoming traffic or not, but I was appaled by the sight of a street sweeper.

I have not seen street sweeper come down to my road. I have only seen them at the market in the front of my mum's store.

This is not something we have in the burbs it is really only a city function.

You know what, just about two weeks ago I was sitting on my couch and I hear this loud noise coming down the street. I had to get up to see what it was, and well, it was a street sweeper. It had been a long time since I had seen one. I do remember them as a kid it was fun to watch them go up and down the street. I seem to remember them running all the time as a kid, but now I don't see them as often. I guess it may have something to do with the fact that I am always working now and not out playing in the frount yard like I was when I was younger.

Yes we have street sweepers coming down our street but we can't watch them cause they come down here at 2 a.m. They wake all of us up with the noise they make.....But it only lasts for a little while.......

We have a sweeper that sweeps our street every Wednesday morning. I remeber the sweeper when I was a kid. I loved watching the big huge brush spinning and throughing all the dirt and debree from the edge of the street.

Actually...we see it very rarely on our street...but I have seen it. I think it is cool too...and I am in my thirties....lol. I really don't remember seeing it when I was younger....but then I lived in the country...

Yep, one comes during the spring to clean up the road salt and sand leftover from keeping the ice off the roads, it's fun to watch, passes here twice usually.

I see them pretty regularly during the nice weather months (not winter). They're pretty loud so I don't get real excited about them.

When I lived close to a big city, there was a street sweeper. I did not like it because I parked on the street and I had to remember which days the sweeper came to that i could move my car. If I did not move my car, then I would get a ticket. Booo!

Nowdays the sweeper doesnt come to my building but he used to do in the past when i was kid.......I was really fascinated by him and used to move behind him throughout the building ,,,i still miss those old school days...and my childhood.......

I am From a village. here no Stret Sweepers. I have seen such people in Cities. They may be employed by Government.

When I lived in NJ, for a few years I dated a woman in Newark. They had assigned days of which side of the street to park on and i thought that was weird. I was from Somerset and we didn't have that stuff. No assigned nothing. So I asked her and she said the street sweeper. CRazy cause I have lived in NJ my whole life till now and I never seen one of those sweeper things. I actually woke up one morning early when I stayed at her house and moved my car. Then I sat outside and watched. I was like, "Ooh, thats a street sweeper!" It was silly, I know.

Nope, I've never seen the street sweeper on my street here in Northern Ohio. They do run them on the streets following a parade. What we do have is the ice cream truck. Parents with little kids love the ice cream truck. It comes slowly down the street with music playing loudly - usually just a fun little tune that everyone knows is the ice cream truck. They come about dinner time, or a little before. Wonder why that is. Of course there prices are pretty steep. Ouch, Ouch and more Ouch! When my kids were little, I could fool them with a story about it being the music truck (bad dad, I know). As they got older that didn't work, but then they could start to comprehend some of the reasons you would not buy this ice cream.

I can see how that would be fun to watch as a kid. I think they come down my street like once every other month or so. They do the parking lots about once a month though. It isn't a bulky truck any more. That thing can turn on a dime and isn't much bigger then a regular truck but has a decnt size barrel on the back. Even as an older person (31) I like watching it but I hate when it picks up a can. They are five cents and I could use that money lol.

i have never got to see a street sweeper even as a kid. I live in a mobile home now and nooone does anything to the road out here .. but when i was a kid i never seen them maybe they did it while we were napping.. i have seen them sitting before never in action

Yes we have a street sweeper where I live. I see him go through aboput once every week or two. My great nephew likes to watch out the window.

Where I live, the street sweeper operates on busy two lane roads during morning rush hour, forcing people to pass unsafely with oncoming school buses.
