Currently, I am using avira antivir personal classic edition. I have been using this software for over a longer period of time. Since using it, I have never experienced any problems at all with regards to the overall function and system performance of my machine. Otherwise, I am so impressed and grateful with its performance. It updates on a regular basis and can be scheduled at your most convenient time. It is very light on resources and does not use a lot of memory. Hence, does not slow down your computer. This can be downloaded free at their own official website at www.free-av.com
Hope this would help to you in any way!
Have a nice day and God speed!

I'd recommend AVG 7.0 Professional. I have been using it for quite some time and I never had a single virus infection whatsoever. =) Use it. It works.

according to me 'ang anti-virus' is the best. i have tried all of them, and i found avg to be the one with the least problems and one that is the most efficient.

I think among the free antiviruses AVG is the best.I have been using it since some years now and never had any problem. It downloads an update almost on a daily basis and the only time my computer is a little slow is when it checks up the system. It's advisable to use a firewall, and antispyware with it to keep your system working like a dream.

I'm using AVAST Home Edition, very efficient and it really is effective. And what's cool about it is, it automatically updates it's system without bothering you. AVG is also good. Both are free and effective.

East or West BitDefender is the best. It is simply awesome man. No virus threats or messages like "failed to disinfect" or "Unable to quarantine". It simply deletes and creates a backup so that all the viruses say goodbye to your beloved computer. It also has spam-protection. I believe it is the best. You can download the free-trial from www.download.com and experience the "clean computer".
