It has now arrived in Britain, who thinks we're all going to die from it?

If it's really there I'm sure not everyone will die from it. I hope no one gets it! I hope they contain it and solve the problem fast.

Killing the birds isn't going to solve the problem

Until the bird flu or H5N1 virus becomes airborne I have decided to take a wait and see attitude. I do not doubt we will have another pandemic, but bird flu reminds me of the swine flu of the 1970’s with the extreme fear mongering done by the media, the stock piling and enforcement of US children to be vaccinated etc and it never came to pass. Time will tell, but the virus is not airborne yet so I view the threat as minimal. I am far more concerned by things that are affecting people in the millions right now like cancer.

I don't see what the differences are, a flu is a flu, right?

I didnt mean so much that I was gonna die because it has now arrived in Britain, that was more of a way of starting the discussion asking whether or not people think we humans will eventaully be able to pass it on to each other causing a pandemic wheres loads of people will die?

Now that I know you're still on Mylot, I thought I'd ask how far this flu got back then. If I remember that flu it ran it's course and we went on to the next flu that hit. It seems every few years some researcher finds a virus that is happening somewhere and warns someone in the media who then trumps it up a notch so it sells and also scares everyone. Vicious circle I think.

I didn’t know I was still on here either. I can’t really remember what happened in the end, I guess it was fine and mass panic for nothing as usual.
