Many people reported to die immediately when they accidentally fall in a prolonged dry well because co (carbon mono dioxide) gas get accummulated at the bottom of the well because of heavier than CO2 gas.As the fallen person inhale it,immediately he dies.It is also reported that when wood burns in a closed door, and if a person is sleeping there, the person is reported to die because in unburned fuel, co gas is produced and in sleeping as the person inhale it, he dies.

Carbon Dioxide(CO2) is heavier than air and could acumulate at the bottom of a well, Carbon Monoxide (CO)is lighter than air, but is very poisonous, this is the gas that is given off when wood burns in a closed room without adequate ventilation as the CO2 is converted to CO when the CO2 is then reacted with the hot carbon in the wood. (CO2 + Carbon gives CO). You need immediate treatment with Oxygen to have any chance of surviving.
The Carbon Dioxide in the well will suffocate you if there is too much Carbon Dioxide concentration, but you have a much better chance of surviving if you manage to get out of the well in time.
