Wow, tough question. I'd have to go with someone a little more progressive like Dani Filth from Cradle of Filth or Dave Ceverdale from Whitesnake. Don't get me wrong, Summer Wind by Sinatra is one of my all time favorite songs but I tend to gravitate towards the hard stuff like Type O Negative ...

Progressive? More like mahem and the macabe and borderline demonic.

I do agree that Frank Sinatra was one of the greatest singers. But I think the greatest voice in history is Barbara Streisand. She has that kind of timeless voice. I just love her and could listen to her all the time.

She is a very gifted singer, I will admit, but when she gets into politics, like many celebs seem to think they are qualified to do, it turns my stomach.

If it's female Whitney Houston.
A lot of people still admit she has the strongest voice, sadly we don't know if she could ever make a come back. Celine Dion will be the strongest voice, if Whitney failed to make a come back I guess. Mariah Carey has the highest voice, but Celine has the best control over her voice between the two.

I agree that Whitney was/is great along with Celine. It is hard to compare them with Frankie. I guess I should have said greatest male singer.

I think Eric Clapton is the greatest. He is entertaining us from 40 years. His hit 'Tears In Heaven' . And I think Late Kurt Cobain of 'Nirvana' was also the best. His hits like 'Smells like teen spirit' is my all-time best . It still a hard question to answer.

Eric clapton was very multi-talented, but I am not ready to put him up there with the best all-time. Kurt had his own unique style that changed music forver, but he can't touch Frankie.

well depends on the type of music...this is too wide...i'd mention Freddy Mercury for example...Caruso in opera...aretha franklin in soul...

wow...that is a tough question. It would be easier narrowed down into smaller categories. :-)
But...I am going to say Colin Meloy...and I know a lot of people may not know who that is (main vocals for The Decemberists). He may not be there yet...but I think he will be remembered as one of the greatest musician of his time.
Then again, I have a crush on him like none other....so I guess my vote isn't fair. :-)
