Does "I'm sorry" mean anything anymore?

I hear people say it so often i think the words have lost all meaning. Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean it, Oh I'm sorry for that, I'm sorry I'm sorry. I have been trying not to say it because I stop and think. What exactly am I sorry for or what do I have to be sorry about? When people say things all the time they just lose all meaning. Do you agree or disagree?

That's my point I guess. If it is said sincerly. It's not done like that any more. It is said for even the smallest thing. It has lost all meaning when people say it for everything.

I so agree with you and I find myself doing that all the time even when I don't mean it. I think it will be best to come up with another word to express how sorry we are.

It's difficult to be able to tell if someone really means it, unfortunately. :(

I think a lot of words and phrases are said too often and have lost their meaning, sorry is one of them. There are people around who are sincere with their apologies but the genuine ones are dwindling.
When I say sorry, I sincerely mean it and I hope the same goes when it is said to me.
