Do you believe that there are still great honest politicians out there? Election is near and I feel like its the same thing you hear again and again. Same promises by politicians who are running for office who just forgets about their promises once they win. Do you think that the whole point of voting for someone for office nowadays is about who is more popular now and who is better or who had more accomplishments? Do you ever think that there are few and few people now whom you think should rightfully run for office?

I think that most people who get into politics do so with the intention of doing good things. I think they genuinely want to serve the public. Not all of them mind you, but most. I think we also need to remember that, unfortunately, the media mostly reports negative stories as these are the stories that move papers, sell magazines and attract viewers. So, while we do read many stories of corruption amongst politicians from all around the world, we need to be aware that these stories do not reflect the majority. Sure there are those who are corrupt. There always has been and there always will be but I firmly believe that most people who enter into the domain of politics do so with good intentions. One last thing... since politicians serve in a public office, everyone is very concerned with what they are doing. I'm sure that if teachers, engineers, business owners, etc worked under the same conditions there would also be a great many stories of misdeeds, crimes and misdemeanors that would also make the headlines of papers, magazines and nightly news broadcasts. But again, these stories would not be a true indication of how the majority of people do their jobs.

You actually have some point there cvm:) Its true that most fo the time the media is a great influence and that most of the time anyway, stories about what went wrong and went bad is the best selling stories about politicians too.

yes there are still good politicians who are honest and worthy. only problem is that they are not contesting elections. they know once they enter active election they have to be like the present day politicians without any principles

I can agree with you. Some people join with good intentions but they get wrapped up with the world of politics and we as voters get too cautious as well that we cant always believe everything is true and untainted as well.

Even if at first, they have good intentions, they will soon find out that it's impossible to do all those things that they promised they will. Altough there are honest politicians out there, but I don't think they will get a very important role because they don't seem to like that kind of character. Even clean politicians get dirty in this business because the need for more and more money and immunity is great, and constantly increasing so they will never be able to control their lust.

These politicians will say whatever it takes to get them elected. I don't care what party it is either. They will make their pretty speeches and flowery promises and then whoever talks the most convincingly will be elected. Sometimes it will be a Democrat until we get tired of them, then the Republicans will get in for a while until we get tired of them. Maybe once in a while we will elect an Independent. The sad fact is that no matter what party we put in office, we have no real idea what we are going to get until we get it. Then the real person comes out and if we don't like it, we're stuck untill the next election. Sometimes we actually get lucky, but often we are disappointed. The current crop does not impress me much at all. I feel we are about to be disappointed again. With the amount of funding that it takes to run a campaign now, there are a lot of people who would do a much better job that will never have the opportunity.

I dont believe so. When you say politician I come to the conclusion that he cant be clean. All politicians are corrupted, dishonest etc. Only thing for us to make choice is, who is less dishonest and less corrupted. Even those politicians who say they are clean, need not be so in reality. Not necessarily because of their personality, but because of their field they need to be very smart and ready to be dishonest(synonym of politics).

I honestly dont know who to believe as well when it comes to politicians. They all seem to bring a bad reputation by the word "politician" alone.

No in any case there is no politician is clean. You can say politics means corruption. I have fed up of these elections. I think the country must be run by military and not any other. One of my friend say me to earn a money you can become politician because when the budget comes there is high rise in the salary of poiiticians and the interest rates and all purchasing for the common beocmes higher and higher with a slight increase in salary.

It is kind of hard to tell anymore. You would think the person you're voting for is clean and then once they are in the office, it is a different story.

I think there are a few honest ones around but they are few. It seems like the ones that are honest to begin with get sucked into the political system though and get corrupted.
