The world is changing everyday and with that changes comes along change in the personality of every individual. Customs and traditions are even affected with these changes. Being a pinay, do you think there is still a need to live up to the stereotype MAria clara type?

Maria Clara can be read in Jose Rizal's novel which was written a 100 years ago. Maria Clara personify a submissive woman, relegated to the background and not given much freedom to think and speak for herself. Today there are still Pinays who can be compared to Maria Clara because of their virtuousness, love of God, loving wife, and mother, but she speaks her mind and make strong willed stand in issues she considers inhumane.Stereotype is passe' (opps) Pinays today are still the Maria Clara of yesteryears only she has college degree and speaks well and intelligently. Not afraid of tomorrow and would bravely face tomorrow no matter what lies ahead.

Well I don't think that Pinay's should stay being a Maria Clara type of a person we have come to an age where women are expected to do more and contribute more to society than the women of the past. I think women should now be competitive and should aim for excellence in their life.

I'm not Pinay, but from the a guy's point of view, I believe that Filipino women should adhere to the morals of the typical Maria Clara. I couldn't care less of what they wear, say, or do so long as they don't degrade themselves.
