Piracy... good r bad??

To start off... i stay in india... a country where u can get movies, music, software, games, electronics, etc, for cheap... the reason.... they r pirated... i havent seen or heard anyone actually buy a legit copy of any software from a store... the reason its too expensive(its easier to buy a copy of win xp for 100Rs than pay 8000Rs)... this takes place in many asian countries... i wanna kno r people doin the right thing in buying priated goods....??? is it a boon for the middle class or the lower middle class type of people??? and what do u think about this whole subject???

I don't think piracy is a good thing, but when Lars Ulrich of Metallica went after Napster so viciously I think that he did over react. Groups have to understand that you can't mess with the fans. Now it has seemed to get a little better because companies realize they we will not pay their rediculous prices any longer, as you can see from some prices dropping.
