I'm planning to see a movie this weekend and wanted to know which movie would you suggest? I was looking at the list that were nominated for an oscar and they are The Departed, The Queen, Little Miss Sunshine, Babel, and Letters From Iwo Jima. Each one looks interesting, but I can only see one of them this month. Any suggestions and why you would recommend that movie would be great.

Thanks for the suggestions and I have viewed several clips of Night at the Museum and am planning to see it. I was thinking about renting it; however, now that somebody has suggested I see it now certainly going to put it on my must see list. I haven't seen any clips for Smokin Aces, so will go look up the movie.

This will be the first time in years that I haven't seen any of the oscar nominated movies. I will be watching "The Illusionist" with Edward Norton next...just got it in the mail from Netflix today...have heard great things about it.

Thanks for the reply and was planning to rent it, as my daughter viewed it in the theater and felt it was excellent. She informed me this evening she is buying the movie and I can borrow it. I'm really looking forward to watching it.

I have seen "Little Miss Sunshine" and it wasn't all that good to me. It had some cute parts in it, but I wish I would of never wasted my money on it.
Now, "The Departed" seems awesome. I havn't seen it, but I think I might be watching it this weekend. I love all the actors in it and it seems like this would be the movie that would keep you on your toes. Plus look at all the hot men that play in it. LOL! Gotta love it!

My husband mentioned why don't we see The Departed, so we might see it soon. There are so many movies that are good to watch that I need more hours in a day. Thanks for the recommendation.

I wish you told me what type of movies you preferred because then it would've been easier to recommend one lol. But I think Little Miss Sunshine sounds good. I haven't seen it, but I know a lot of people have liked it. Besides, the departed sounds a little scary lol. Maybe Babel would also be a good choice as well. I haven't heard of Letters from Iowa Jima so I can't give advice on that one. Let me know which one you chose and how you liked it.

Actually, I wanted to hear about many types of movies, as I normally go to the theater twice a month, as my husband and I enjoy viewing a movie and he likes action and loves scary pictures. The reason I asked for help is I wanted a longer list, as last year I ended up averaging 3 movies a month and sometimes we would all view the same movie. Several of the movies we viewed last year weren't very good, so thought this would really help me see the best movies. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for recommending them. I'm certain that two of them will be watched right after they come out. I'm a Spider-man fan and have enjoyed them and my daughter wants us to see Harry Potter.

I know your post was quite a while ago, but now all of those movies are available on my IO cable for download. I've already knocked of "Eregon" and "Little Miss Sunshine", so I think "Letters From Iwo Jima" will be next, followed by "The Queen". Only because "The Queen" doesn't seem to have been included this month! I want to see it much more than anything else on my list. :)

I really like Little Miss Sunshine. It was funny but not a comedy--it seemed realistic. The characters were genuine and heartfelt, and I kept thinking about it after I finished watching.

I'm going to put this movie on my list of 10 movies to see, as it sounds like its one we could discuss after viewing the movie. I have watched quite a few clips, but couldn't decide whether it would be a waste of money to view at the theater. Thanks for your help, as I would have skipped it, if people hadn't suggested it.

I have only actually seen one of the above movies... Little Miss Sunshine and it was excellent. From what I have heard, Departed is very good also, but I guess it depends on your mood. LMS starts out sort of dark, but really gives you a lift by the end. From what I understand, the other movies are not uplifting.
Have fun!

i think i'm going to watch the pursuit of happiness, i watched the trailer and i was really touched, specially the part where mr gardner(i dunno if its the right name) and his son locked themselves in a comfort room. I am also considering to watch dreamgirls beacuse i was intrigued when eddie murphy won a golden glode for his supporting role.

This movie is certainly worth watching, as I have seen it. The movie is based on Mr Gardner's life and what he endured to get ahead and how we can all be successful, if we don't gice up. Thanks for the reply.

I am not too sure. This a tough one. I am not too sure many "epic" movies are coming out soon. I can't wait for 300 to come out on dvd, but I saw that in theatres, so it really doesn't count. I will probably end up going to watch spiderman 3 when it comes out. Wasn't too fond of the first 2 but I think 3 looks A LOT better. Let hope, eh???? :P
