Why in the world did it have to be now?

Has anything ever happened to you that you thought was in the absolute worst timing whatsoever?? Have you noticed how timing can make a tiny deal into a huge one? My heat went out the night before last. Nothing whatsoever coming through the radiators. The gas company happened to have a phone outage at the same time, so when I tried to call them I got nothing. And... it was -30 degrees Fahrenheit here. So the last couple of nights were probably the coldest nights of the whole year, and we had to get by on space heaters (which we had to borrow money to buy). The poor baby had so many clothes piled on him he could barely move so I could keep him warm. (It's still out by the way, the gas people came by and said it was okay on their end but I have to get my landlord to check our equipment.) And if it had gone out even a couple of weeks ago, it wouldn't have been anywhere near as big a deal. I mean, it was cold here, but nowhere near as cold. We probably could have made it with the one electric heater we already owned instead of having to buy two new ones. Grrr. Why does everything bad have to happen at the absolute worst time?

That always happens like for example we had some money put back to save for a new freezer and then right when we had a little bit more to go my hubby went and hit a deer and there went all of the money to fix the car. and then we had some money saved up again and our heat bill came and took all of our savings again. We cannot never get ahead. Always something happens to mess it up.

How frustrating!! I'm looking forward to getting our taxes done so we can pay some things up with our tax return. But of course we're going to have less money now than we expected because we have to pay back for buying those heaters. Bleh! It can be so hard to get ahead once you're behind! I totally know the feeling!

I agree it always happens like this... lifes twisted like that.. makes things much harder then they should be... i just try not to expect to much or get my hopes up because it always seems like theres something else to deal with.. you accomplish one thing and then its like here you go your not allowed to get ahead in life... so yea I agree with indywahm :)

I hear you things always seem to happen at the worst times. It has been very cold here. We are breaking records with the bitter cold temperatures we have been having. I hope you get it fixed fast and that your landlord is on the ball. I am not sure where you are from but I am in Canada and they say we could expect these cold temps to last till the end of Feb. Keep warm!

It got fixed finally! Though I hate to see how much we spent running electric heaters in the meantime, not to mention it was kind of hard going into only the parts of our apartment we could afford to heat. But we and our baby stayed warm enough, which is the most important part! I've from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, pretty darn far North in the United States. So it stays cold here for quite a while.

I don't know why but it ALWAYS happens that way to us. My husband hit a deer with my car. Saved the money to get it fixed and the autobody shop lost the estimate, then ordered the parts and said it would take 2 weeks til they could get me in. By this time, it had already been a month and I was without a car. Couldn't get a rental until the car was to be in the shop. Got my car back and not 2 days later my husband breaks his truck. His truck isn't old but it sure as heck seems to be a lemon. Since we've had it we've had to put a new engine in it. Then this time the radiator got a hole in it and the power steering pump went whacky and sprayed oil all over the engine. The truck kept overheating and we had to have it towed home. About 350.00 later we are fixed but can it all came at the worst time where 350.00 was a lot of money. Good news is my husband is a heavy equipment mechanic so we always have the tools to fix any problem that comes along so we don't pay for labor--just the parts. Bad things always happen at once :(

I hate to say it but you have been visited by the Sh** Fairies. They are the ones that when things are going realitively smooth to muck it all up. Everything and anything that can go wrong will when they strike. They delight in causing people to go "Oh Sh**" You are not alone in this, they will strike anyone so long as they can cause them problems. I do hope it gets warmer for you and that the furance is fixed. It is too cold to be without that. Keep after the landlord to get it fixed. You can't be without it right now, especially not with a baby in the house.

The landlord did finally get it fixed for us. Until then we just had to make do with electric heaters, but we managed to stay warm enough so it's okay. Now I just kind of fear what our electric bill will look like after running heaters for so long. We'll make it, though! We always do. =)

BRRRR. It was that cold way up there? -30 degrees? I hope you can get things fixed. I have never been in weather that cold. The coldest it has been down here is about -20. That was a few years back. Thanks for reminding me why I live in the lower peninsula. Everybody keeps saying that there is global warming going on. Maybe it is only during the summer. I will say a prayer for you.

Haha! Every winter I say "Can't we at least move downstate somewhere?" but as soon as the winter's over I'm happy to live here again. There's so much I love about the UP, not least of which is my friends here. You know, I thought we were having evidence of global warming in winter starting so late this year, but when it hit, it hit HARD!! Thanks for your prayers!

car - 1997, gold oldsmobile, cutlass supreme. 4 door, v6 motor
Yes, bad things always happen at the wrong time. I was on my way to the bank one morning. i was driving my 1997, oldsmobile cutlass supreme. I had my three children with me too. Ages 5, 3, and 8 months old. I was in the middle of the highway when all of a sudden my car cut off. i'm like what in the world is going on. and the car wouldn't start. i called my grandmother to pick up the kids, and i had to ask some guys to push my car out of the high way. i called my hubby from work to meet me where the car was. i wouldn't of been so stressed if we had another car, but it was the only one that we had at the time. come to find out the car's motor locked down. and there was nothing we could do about it. i had to by a crappy $250 van, until my taxes come in. because all i had was his paycheck to get anything with.

I agree with you. Life seems to throw problems at us when we really cant handle it. I think this happens for some weird reason like we are being tested. I know I have been in situations that seemed like it was the end for me but I always pulled through. Life has always played curel little jokes on me so now Im pretty much use to anything that comes up. If I had no worries at all Id probably die of boredom. I hope all works out for your family but hanging there it will get fixed.

I know how it is. It's Murphy's Law, what can go wrong will go wrong. I'm having the same kind of week so far, so, I know where you're coming from. For us, it always seems that when we save a little bit of money, something always comes up, and we're broke again. This week, it's our pets. One dog needed an operation, another one, who is just visiting (he's a rescue), hurt his leg, and is at the vet right now. Will probably cost another bunch of money we don't have. So, you're not alone. We just try to do the best we can with what we have. I hope things get better for you.

Doesn't life always seem that way? It seems like when one thing happens a series of events just as bad follows suit. Nothing like kicking you when you are down. I had some pretty bad experiences in the past 2 years to make me grateful when life goes as planned. For example it was may of 2005 when I found out I was pregnant with my son we were over joyed as we had been trying for likr 7 months to get pregnant. A week later my husband got into a bad car accident and hit a tree head on going 35 mph he broke his leg really bad so bad they had to send him to a mojor trauma hospital in downtown cleveland. I then had to keep working even though my plan was after finding out about the pregnancy that I was going to quit my job and stay home with our then 2 1/2 y/o daughter. 6 months later his job that he had fired him because he hadnt returned to work yet and it was a non work related injury but he couldn't go back yet as he was just learning to walk again. He pushed himself to walk before time and tried to go back to his work but they let him go anyways. He then had to go out and find another job making a whole lot less than he was originally making. Then near the end of my pregnancy I became so sick with pneumonia that they had to hospitalize me. My husband didnt have anyone to watch our daughter so he stayed home with her and would visit me at the hospital. Then his job fired him again for missing so much work. I finally had the baby and had such a hard time giving birth that I hemmoraged really bad. Not only was I in bad shape but then we also found out the baby had fluid in his kidneys. Seven weeks later my son became so sick with RSV that he stopped breathing and he was admitted into the intensive care unit also in cleveland. We've had a few years of bad luck so I know whats its like to be in a bad spot and have things just get worse. My life is starting to turn around now and I hope yours does too best of luck to you!
