Yes, I do know of one that really does pay. One of the last surveys I took was about what I ate for a week. I had to tell them everything I ate in the week. They payed me $20 for that. If you are interested in the sites link, message me and I'll send it to you.

I am signed up with a few of online survey sites and yes they do show up as your earning till date...but you need to reach their minimum payout for any claim to be made, and the frequency in which you get these surveys is really bad for weeks you donot see any survey in your mailbox, wherin you sit for surfing everyday so tat is quite disappointing, thats the reason I prefer mylot, becaus you do not have to wait for a mail to come to your inbox to start earning, but dear freind even mylot is very slow in paying you..it demands a lot of your time, dedication and hard work..to end up getting paid even a dollar in a day

Some do, some don't. The thing is in order to make any money taking surveys you really need to register with multiple sites, then take all the invitations you receive by email. It's really impossible to know about half the time whether the invite is worth your time until you're already taking it. Many I've taken with Greenfield Online and Survey Spot ended up being screeners for good paying surveys that paid me $20-$40 for an hour or two of my time.
There are other times that the screeners you receive will lead to invitations to panels that might pay you monthly for many months, just for participation. Last year I made a couple hundred dollars this way over the course of a year, with about 20 minutes a week investement of my time.
There's a legit list at: http://mommyspace.blogspot.com/2006/08/my-favorite-survey-sites.html with paid surveys that do pay. I'm registered with all these sites, when I'm on top of things and take all the invites and follow them to completion I average about $40-$60 a month. So, I guess it depends on how much your time is worth.
Some surveys are flat out boring, some are pretty cool. Either way to me it's money and I can always use a little pocket change. So, I've stuck with it.

In my opinion, survey are a complete waste of time....
Personally the Simplest and/or most cost effective way is to invest in an inexpensive ebook.
Go to my blog http://cashjourney.blogspot.com and you will not be bombarded with tonnes of links and opportunities, only a select few with reasons why I recommend them.
Good luck to everyone!

I think companies do pay for taking surveys and a lot of people make money doing simple surveys by post, email, online or on the phone
