How do you shave?

The history of shaving is a bloody one. Until the introduction of the straight razor, the ancients used shaving knives, and before that, various sharp shells, flint, and rocks. We see pictures of ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans without beards, and we know that their less sophisticated bearded enemies were called Barbarians, because they had beards. Through copper, bronze and iron ages, blades improved in sharpness, but not safety. Razors eventually became steel, and then in the mid-nineteenth century, they developed handles. During my childhood in the Sixties I can remember watching my father shave each morning with what I now recognise and think to be a Gillette double-edged safety razor and I particularly enjoyed it when he lathered up with the old brush and mug. putting on that thick layer of white stuff on his face, the glycerine based soap left an extremely slick surface with the hairs standing at attention waiting to be cut down... Anyway.. Men do you use and electric shaver or still shave the old fashioned wet way, which do you think is best? Ladies do you use an electric shaver or a hair removing cream, which do you think is best?

I use a 4 bladed razor. I can't use the hair remover since I have very sensitive skin, that stuff will blister me before it ever removes the hair. I don't like electric either, they don't seem to cut as close to give me the smooth feel I like.

You must try an epilator .. they are MUCH better .. I have sensitive skin prone to rashes and I can use my epilator easily ..

I've always used an electric shaver. I can't really comment on hair removing cream because I've never tried it, but I do wonder if it would work better for me. I don't really have any complaints about the electric shaver method, though, except that it seems like I have to do it quite often.. if the hair removing cream would mean having to maintain things less often, it might be an easier option for me.

I use a straight edge razon, disposable. Use gel or shaving cream, and I have no problems under my arms or legs. My husband sticks to some fancy expensive electric shaver.

I prefer my shaving to be convenient and hassle-free so I stick to my electric shaver. Dry shave.

I'm using Gillete Mach III power nitro, and it's very good. I just don't like elctric shaver 'cause it's not thourogh enough. I like Gillete M3 because it has that microvibration :D

I am MAN to start with.... I had shaved with both electric and razor. It really has to do with situation and satisfaction. When you are at leisure and want a satisfied shave then go for a razor shave... Else when you are on move then better to opt for electric shaver which is easier to handle than razor involving water and lather (could mess up everything).

You know, I´m a bit and not only me but most of my friends as well are upset. Every single time we watch Fab5 we are told not to shave down on the neck. We are all using the best razors and creams available and we disagree...:) Maybe it´s something with the neck of gay-men living in New York but where we are from the beard needs a proper shaving mate....

I'm a lady and I don't use either. I stick with the old fashioned razor and shaving cream in the shower thing. Sometimes, if I need to shave my legs and I don't want to have a shower, I use Nair cream. That's it for me.

I think I've just tried just about everything! I think my personal favorite is still a regular ole disposable razor and some soap in the shower. I wasn't too happy with the hair removal cream, not only did it smell terrible but it also didn't do a very good job at removing all the hair. And while the wax treatment was nice in that it was by far the longest lasting it was also the most painful and took the longest. Electric razors are alright but for some reason they just don't seem to give the same sort of close shave as a regular razor does.

It is strange that you are obsessed with the act of shaving...rather you should worrying more about how everyone is putting food on the table... I shape with a use and throw razor and good gel for lather. Such a simple thing. What' up?

Ewww Chris .. I wouldn't put a razor to any part of my body .. they are far too harsh for oour soft and gentle skin ... besides which using a razor creates coarser and faster growing hair and that's the last thing we want .. In the 'bad' old days I used to use the messy and pongy hair removing creams .. pooohy they do pong don't they ... then I saw the light (in 1980 as it happens) .. and I was introduced to waxing .. superb .. soft and silky skin that lasts around 6-10 weeks before it needs doing again and the hair grow finer and softer as time goes on ... Then, I had a complete breakthrough .. I found epilators (around 1985/7) they are superb swift, simply pain free if done correctly and believe me my hairs are finer than ever now .. soft and silky and even lighter too .. I would never, ever, ever, ever go back to anything but epilation of waxing .. it's just not worth all the fuss and time and growing coarse hair that other types of hair removal make .. And now of course we have home laser treatments .. once it was only for the very rich to use .. £1,000 per leg !! But now I have my very own, it was very cheap to buy, laser gadget .. it's the best yet .. and I am steadily working my way over all the areas I need to keep hair free .. it is a slower process but still only takes a few seconds for each little areas treatment .. and once the growth cycle has been covered properly the hairs will not grow back for years ... HOORAY !!!

wat a nice way to post ur view on a topic which most don prefer gr8...even i could bring back the picture how my dad used to shave and i would quickly run n apply the foam on my face too...but juz that he wont allow me to touch blades...nostalgic moments as my dad has passed away....anyhow i would rather prefer a razor than electic stuff....the latter doesn't give u a gud feel....
