Addicted to Gossip!

My mother in law is so addicted to gossip about movie stars and such. She spends about $50.00 a months on the mags that are full of gossip like star and enquirer. She talks about the stars like she knows them. She calls us all of the time and says stuff " oh no such and such just did such and such and what will she do about it" or whatever is going on at the time . It used to be kind of cute but now it is just getting worrisome.

It sounds as though your mother-in-law is bored with life. Maybe you can introduce some new activity into her life such as being a reading volunteer in a school, or getting her into a church Bible study group, or challenging her to take a class at the local community college. Good luck.

I'm not surprised you are worried about this. I think that people who are interested in celebrities don't have a good life themselves. Perhaps she needs to find some new hobbies and interests instead of obsessing with other people.

I admit, I love the gossip! :) I am always watching ET and the Insider. I used to watch E! News but I don't get that channel anymore. I can't afford to pay for the magazines though! ;) It does get annoying hearing about the SAME stars all the time.
My best advice is the let her talk about it... it gives HER something to do. ;) Just humor her.

I like the hollywood gossip but I do not pay for it. I just go online and there are tons of gossip sites that have the latest info, better than mags and all free! If you MIL has a computer you should tell her to do that. Then at least she will save the $50.
