MissyD, I seriously feel your pain about the hard drive that you lost. We had a hard drive die about 4 years ago and I also lost hundreds of irreplaceable photos. The rest of what was on that hard drive I really don't miss, but those photos are something that were dear to me that I have no way to replace. But it was my own fault, too, for not getting those files backed up as I went along, and I'm still bad, to this day about doing that. I'm glad that you're back online! ^_^

Oh no!! I've had that happen to me and I know how miserable it is. I'm glad though you were able to reinstall and at least save the computer. I know that is small consilation after losing all that was on it. Trying to rebuild it all..oh I feel for you.

Welcome back to the net Missy. I know what you mean about losing everything in your hard drive over them viruses. That has happen to me twice. It's always good to back up important files and especially pictures that can not be replaced. There are many free file hostings you can use. I found one site that will give you 5 gigs of file hosting free at mydatabus.com . Another source for freeware for anti virus protection tools is about snapfiles.com and cnet.com . I know the feeling how good is to have your computer back.

Don't feel bad Missy. I completely understand. As I wasn't posting for a month straight. Til my sister moved in and I was able to hook her computer up to my internet. My computer will get fixed if my husband ever sets up a date to get our taxes done. Which can be forever..since he is not speaking to me right now.

I noticed that I had not responded to any of your discussions, but figured I just got too busy and missed them. I guess this is a lesson to all of us to back up any and everything we want to save, just in case the unthinkable happens. Glad you are back.

Well, congratulations on having your internet and stuff back! I'm so sorry about all the stuff you lost! That happened to us once, and it was horrible because we even had home movies that we uploaded onto our compute to put onto dvd and we lost those too. I hope that you are able to get stuff back, and I hope you didnt lose anything that was really important. Good luck!

Why ur computer got a virus dear?
Don't you've antivirus software installed?
My advice to all to make a copy of all the datas in CDs frequently.(which will be useful to carry while you move to some other place also.)

Glad to have you back! It might be a good idea to have some type of alternative storage for your files. Just in case your computer get "whacked again"...
http://www.smartcomputing.com might be able to help you find something that's reliable and safe.
Have a great day! :)

I'm so sorry to hear what happened to your computer. been there done that. I have tried a few times to back up everything and than that program that makes the back up discs freezes each time. Someone had mentioned the flash drive cards so I might investigate into that. I don't think my next PC will be an HP again. lol :)

Welcome back!!
It sure is amazing how quickly we become attached to the computer and how lost we feel without our "fix" of internet.
I hope what you lost on the comp can be replaced over time.

It's not only important to keep your files backed up, but to keep your antivirus software up to date. My computer has been stopping tons of viruses lately. When I check out the virus sites there have been a lot coming out again. Seems like that always happens after Christmas because people get new computers.
Good luck!
