I was just wondernig how many people wash their new clothes from the store before wearing them. My son says it doesnt matter if you wash it before hand they are new he says . but tell him "you dont know how many hands have been on those items and you dont know if anyone has tried them on before I always wash the items before I wear them...:)

I ALWAYS wash new clothes that I buy. We won't know how many people have touched, or even tried it on before we buy it. So it is a must to wash them before you wear them. =)

I always wash, unless it's a made-to-order item that HAS to be dry cleaned, like my wedding gown. But I think my dressmaker had it dry cleaned before handing it to me. Most times, I get skin irritation if the clothes are not washed before I wear it. I think there are some chemicals that are used in the manufacture of textiles and I would prefer to wash that off. Not to mention the different microbes that might already be there. Just to be on the safe side ;)

I always wash my clothes before I wear them because 1) they tend to smell kinda funny when they're brand new and 2) for the exact same reasons you said. You never know who's been trying them on and touching them and stuff. Plus, they're also usually fairly stiff before you wash them. They're a LOT more comfortable once you've washed them.

Besides the consideration of who might have touched them, or tried them on (with or without undergarments) most clothes have "sizing" in them. I don't know what it is or why it is there, just that it makes them feel scratchy and uncomfortable. Also, some clothes -- like blue jeans -- tend to bleed their colors. I remember once I had to buy clothes on the way to work -- don't remember why I couldn't wear what I had at home -- and picked up a pair of blue jeans and dark blue sox. Changed into them at work and after a couple of hours, noticed my beige office chair had an odd bluish cast to it. When I got home and changed, my legs were light blue and my feet were dark blue from the dye in the clothes. So all of that was to say, yes you should wash new clothes before wearing them.

You have no idea how many times that garment has been tried on by other people!! The only time I didn't wash first was when I worked in a retail store, and we could set aside items to buy - I often pulled them right out of the shipping box, where they were wrapped in plastic, and I felt OK about those items not being washed!

I always wash new clothes before wearing. You never know whose has tried them on or anything. I also feel that they have that new smell that I like to get rid.

I don't. I don't have the patience. I always want to put it on right away.

I wash newly bought clothes too. Who knows, there'll be nasty bacteria creeping into it already! Even if it's sealed in plastic, I still make it a habit to wash the clothes first before using it.

I do - but only as i've had a family have a "reaction" to new clothes that she didn't wash before wearing ... turned out to be from some chemical sprayed onto the clothes ... and i didn't want that to happen to my kiddies. The truth is you really don't know what is living on new clothes. I also have an embarrasing story about what happens when you don't wash before hand. I was on holidays with my husband and I managed to rip a giant hole in the shorts I was wearing ... that was embarrassing enough ... but I found a pair of shorts I liked at a nearby shop and changed into them. Well lets just cut to the chase and say the new shorts were red ... we ended up being caught in a sunshower ... and i had red dribbles running down my legs that just looked like I was having my period =S Never ever again!!

I always wear clothes right away after I've bought them, without washing. I'm not very germaphobic, though.

I never do. Should I? Probably. But that makes me feel very anal. I'm not as afraid of other people's bacteria as I perhaps should be.

i myself sometimes..or should i say most of the time i get excited when i bought new clothes/jeans and sometimes i don't bother wasteful practice of washing them before wearing...i noticed i had small rashes then i learned from one of health & fashion sites that we really need to wash new clothes because new clothes had substance called Formaldehyde and many allergenic compounds that used by manufacturing companies to help prevent or minimize wrinkles and shrinkage...washing your new clothes is really a good habit..you never know, you might bought a clothes or a pair of jeans that might have bugs transmitted from the person who tried it on before you...
