individual?or is it faith that will save us?for me my idea of religion is just a community or group which separates each individuals belief from that of another group...FAITH will save us no matter what religion we are affiliated to...its the faith to one supreme bieng and the principle of doing what is right and good to others that defines a men faith aand relation to another human being...muslim or christian we only have the same creator a supreme being called by us by diffrent names...and our faith in him and the adherence to the golden rule"do not do unto others what you dont want others to do unto you"is the essence of our pass to immortality after worldly death...(im a christian but this is my principle)SHALOM!(peace)

How can religion save us: Religion has caused so many wars in the past.
Though I do agree with you about faith.
Though I sometimes have my doubts about a supreme being. Why do new born children suffer due to poverty and malnourishment?
We can talk about the concept of rebirth and that you are paying for your previous life, but it would make sense to pay for something you remember something about.
I believe we need to make our self happy and satisfied in this world without thinking about Immortality or Heaven.

The thing about that is that we cannot make ourselves truly happy. We cannot find total peace and joy in this world. It comes from knowing Christ.
Yes, some "religions" have caused wars, but those who truly know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior would not want to harm anyone...esp start a war. We need to stop blaming God for the evil in this world. We make our own choices and when we make the wrong ones, we suffer the consequences.

Why does it have to be Christ to find peace and happiness?
Also I would never blame God about everything that is bad, if I question his/her existence.

Yeah, that is some way of looking at it. I just don't think that will safe us at all because I have given up on religion long time ago. I suppose whatever you believe in is great for you.

your thoughts are absolutely in sync with mine. i am a hindu by birth but i dont believe in worshipping daily before any particular deity. i believe that have a particular image of GOD in your mind, narrows your thoughts to such an extent that you tend to pick up fights over trivial religious beliefs and customs. you must be knowing that Hinduism believes in the existence of thousands of GODS and GODDESSES and there are temples all over India dedicated to each of these deities. but you should see the arguments and frayed tempers if you ever said one word against my GOD. what childish behaviour from grim-faced adults!!! that is why I dont believe in any particular GOD but in the existence of a supreme being who is connected directly with my soul. to be in touch with that being, i dont need any temple, mosque or church. that is the religion of my whole existence and of course the other dictum is
:humanity is the supreme religion, everything else can come later.

religion comes from the latin word "religare" meaning relationship. no religion on earth can ever save you. religion is not our means of salvation. it is not also because of our actions that we can be saved. not because we always pray and go to church or give to the poor. it is the relationship with The Creator and how we manage our life with others. nobody knows if one is already saved until judgment day comes.
