This may sound strange, but it really works: rub Vaseline (petroleum jelly) on your hands before going to bed, and cover them with gloves (like cheap gardener's gloves) while you sleep, to avoid getting sheets greasy. It moisturizes hands during the night.

Udder cream works best. It's the stuff farmers use on the dairy cows. You can usually buy it at the local pharmacy now.

Try some cortisone cream. If the over the counter stuff doesn't work or show improvement after a few days, may need a stronger prescription strength dose. Rub it in kinda thick, do it at night before bed, then put a pair of socks over his hands to keep everything from getting messy.

I have used all kinds of lotions and potions...lol And strangely the thing that works best for me is Johnson's softlotion, extra care healing lotion.
It's great for the whole family as it is hypoallergenic and mild. It really does last 24 hours and it works for me when nothing else will. You can check it out here if you are interested in learning more about it.

Try to give Oil massage for this problem.
Also you can try this, i.e. Mix honey (1tsp) with almond oil(2tsp), and massage on the hands. Put on a pair of old cotton gloves and sleep in them. Wash off the hands in warm soapy water in the morning. The hands will be soft. Repeat it the following night if necessary.
This remedy will help you alot.
