More and more, people are treating their dogs like little babies--carrying them in purses, putting them in clothes, etc. It is getting ridiculous.
I know the celebrities like Paris Hilton do it, but that doesn't mean everyone else has to carry around a tiny little whipper snapper and treat it like an accessory.
Right? Who agrees? Dogs are pets....not babies...

I totally agree. It's just so cutesy that it's almost sickening. When it first started I thought 'Okay well the dog doesn't have much hair so maybe it's cold'.But then the outfits started being a constant thing and I'm like 'Oh pure baby, not allowed to be a dog'.Because even if they are small and cute they are above all a living breathing DOG.Come on give the little guys some respect and stop with the carrying all the time and the clothes.I'm sure you'll have a happier pooch for it.

I totally agree with you some people just can't make a difference between a pet and a real human being. And i'm sure the dog doesn't enjoy this either...And you forgot they marry them too, dress them in a suit, and make them eat "wedding cake" that's sick.

I agree very strongly. Dogs are pets and not humans. One reason is if you give a dog food for human consumption, they might get seriously ill. Another reason why I agree is because I went to a dog store to get my dog a Christmas present(No, I'm not a hypocrite, I just get my dog a bone). I went to a new dog store that had just opened up. When I walked in, I saw the normal dog things like a bed and some dog food. Then, I saw something that made it just plain weird. I saw dog tents and I saw costumes for halloween that are for the dogs, I think they have gone over the edge with that. Then I walked over to the table with the bones, treats, etc. Then I saw what made me think this place is just plain dumb. They put icing on dog treats and were selling them. Then, there was a full cake with icing and I do not know what inside of it. The cake was about the size of a human cake. I know you should celebrate it's birthday if you want to, but I think cake is a little too over the edge. What are the getting at? Do they want to make hamburgers and pizzas now for dogs? It is totally ridiculous. I'm not saying that it is bad to do that, but I think that it is just weird to add icing to a treat for a dog. That is my opinion of the subject.

I agree with you. They are still animals. They just aproved here that resturants can allow dogs owners to bring their dogs with them as long as they are on the patio and they have to get a permit for this. I personally wouldnt want to go to any resturant that allows dogs no matter how well behaved they may be at home, you can have alot of problems with this. other dogs there, waitors weaving between pets.

Treating dogs like humans is actually damaging to the dog-human relationship. Dogs are pack animals, and the best way to train them and keep them emotionally/psychologically healthy is to treat them as a member of your pack (you are the Alpha male or female). I've noticed that dogs that get treated like humans or children usually have any variety of behavior problems.
I also think it's rude to take your dog with you everywhere. A lot of people don't like dogs, are afraid of dogs, have been bitten by dogs, or are allergic to dogs. These people should be able to go to a store without having to encounter a strange dog. Not to mention that dogs aren't allowed in most stores for health reasons. We had a couple who brought their poodles into the coffee shop I worked at, and the dogs shed everywhere and gave a couple customers an allergic reaction. Not to mention, they smelled bad. The owners were incredibly rude when we asked them to take their dogs out of the food service area, and they brought their dogs back again week after week. Look people...if the sign says "no dogs," it's there for a reason.

yes,i agree with you... dogs are dogs and they are not babies... dogs are animals and babies are human beings... so they are entirely different and the way we handle and treat them should be different as well...

Yes you are so right ... what really annoys me is when people think owning dogs is just as difficult as raising children. They think because they can handle a few dogs they are prepared for parenthood. I have met a lot of people like this over the years and still none of them have children.. Id give anything for my kids to behave like my dog ..lol.. my house would be a lot cleaner that's for sure and when they cry I could just put them outside and shut the door.. hahaha :) but you are very right when you say dogs are dogs NOT babies and they should be treated entirely different..

I definitely agree that dogs are pets and are family members. I do not think there is anything wrong with dressing up a dog, especially if you are taking it for a walk and it is bitter cold out. I love dogs very much but do not think people should take them everywhere they go, unless it is a guide dog that helps blind people get around.

You ain't seen nothing yet. You can bet the democrats and the politcal correctness groups are going to push through legislation to allow cats and dogs to vote. Haven't you heard that dogs are people too? Many people treat their pets better than they would treat a stranger in need. I have pets myself and like them a lot. But, they are not humans and certainly not comparable to kids or babies. People are like robots and mimes. They see one person doing it, and then they have to do it for fear of not being part of the "in crowd". Silly nonsense never knows any bounds.

I agree that dogs are not fashion accessories or babies. However I see nothing wrong with spoiling your dog. I take my dog almost everywhere with me, including both of my jobs, but she is still a dog.

I do dress my dog because she is little and she gets cold. So I might as well get her cute clothes. I do not have a bag carrier for her I put her on a leash.I think strollers and carriers are a little far fetched. But for some people they can not have children and their pets are considered babies. My pets are part of my family but I try to keep a balance.

The biggest problem is not how people treat their animals. I have 4 cats and each one is my "baby". They have feelings like any person, they can feel pain, they can down in the dumps, etc. The problem is the ultra-rich have too much money that they have no idea what to do with it.

I think it is a big craze going on where people like to carry the little small dogs in their purses and things. I dont have a problem with it because it is their animal and they can with is as they please, and I think it is better for them to treat the dog like a baby and treat it well rather than them treating it like crap and abusing it.

dogs, cats, whatever the animal is part of the family that owns it. if i had a little dog and not the big ole 130lb dog i have, i'd carry it around in a little purse too! there is nothing wrong with making your animal feel loved and important too. People who dont have kids often feel as though their pet IS their baby, nothing wrong with it.

loving your dog a lot is not a sin, but overdoing it to the point that they become accessories is too much. makes me sick most of the time it doesnt seem like real love. in the end the poor creatures are the ones that suffer especially when another human comes to take their place...
sometimes theres nothing we can do about it, since most small dogs are bred for the sole purpose of flaunting the owners "richness".
