Does it drive you crazy that you can't paste on myLot?

I get that they don't want people to cut and paste spam, but it's really annoying that you can't copy things like websites or cut portions of your post and paste elsewhere, if you're proofreading and makes sense elsewhere.
I know you can paste when you get to 500 posts, but that's soooo far away!!

It seems far away but you will reach 500 posts before you know it.
I think that it is a good idea that you cant copy and paist until you reach 500 posts. Only those who are serious about myLot will actually reach 500 posts. It means you have to put a bit more effort into discussions which isn't a bad thing.
The only problem with it is that you cant use a spell check on Word for example. I suppose that is just something we have to cope with. To resolve that problem, they should add a spell check to myLot.

I think a spell check would be a great idea! I know I can't spell at all and if my life depended on it. I wouldn't be here!

I do find it annoying at times. Especially when I forget about it after a while and try to paste again. But I guess I can understand why they do it. I've seen some "discussions" out there that are definitely ripped off from articles or other websites.
As far as the 500 posts....you are a lot closer than I am!
Good luck!

You're right. Seeing lots of spam would probably be a lot more annoying that just not being able to paste.
Hang in there on your posts. I found the first 50 were hard to get to, but the last 50 were much easier! :-)

LOL, it did until I reached 500 posts. You will be able to after you reached it. By the time I reached 500 posts, I completely forgot that it was my goal so I could copy and paste. You will get there soon enough.

Wow, well you've gotten so many postings! How long did it take you to get to over 1,000? I just hit 100 and don't know if I have anything else to say. Haha!

there are times when it definatly drives me nuts! but even with the cut/paste ban ive seen a large number of discussions that were taken straight from an article or even the back of a bottle of aspirin!
so i have to say i like it, consider how much more spam discussions there would be if ppl could just cut/paste?!

Wow, I haven't come across any of those discussions. Seriously, the back of a bottle of aspirin? Geez...some people!
Good perspective though, I'll try to remember that when I get frustrated!

It used to bother me as well before I reached 500....but now that I'm able to do so....I have rarely even used it.
It seems a little silly that you can't paste until you reach 500....I mean if you are wanting to cut and paste spam....you still can do it after 500.I just don't know anybody that would go through such lenght just to post spam....guess that's why they have it set up like that.
Hang in there....you will get there eventually.

I think they do this to not only prevent spam, but also to keep people from cheating. What I mean is that someone might copy someones writing and paste it onto a new discussion so they might get credit. Maybe they do this so people won't plagiarize, which is a serious crime. I find it annoying sometimes, but I didn't know you can paste when you get to 500. I guess I've found something else to look forward to.

it's super annoying!! Sometimes it's easier to cross post a link or recipe or something rather than tpe it all out again!! I think they should lower the threshold for the cut and paste privledge to 300 or something as it think it'll take foreer to get to 500

Yes, i find it annoying to not be able to cut and paste, because I often want to support my discussions with a reference to another website and can't just paste it in. Some urls get to be rather extensive when signifying a specific page in a site and it would be easy to make a mistake.
I also would like an edit feature, not necessarily spell-check but to be able to go back into the post and correct any mistakes.

While it does get under my skin from time to time, it's necessary. Just think of all of the scam artists who would abuse the system right from the start. By setting the bar so high, you're weeding out some, but far from all, scammers.
For further reading, I urge you to check out this discussion, whose URL I had to type out, mind you (*laugh*): http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/995464.aspx

I find it very annoying! There have been times that I have written either a reply or started a discussion and have had my computer freeze or the next page didn't load and I have to type it all over again. I usually try to copy things I'm submitting to discussions on every site I use just so I don't have to retype it if something goes wrong.
I do understand why they have this, I just wish they would lower it to 200 or 300, but I guess it has made me try to post more.
