I have a friend who is now in her 80s. If I were ever asked who my best friend is it would be her. Why? Although she is almost double my age, she understands me even better than my parents and I can share everything with her with no fear of condemnation. She tells me when I am wrong but she does so in love. She was the first person who ever made me feel loved and accepted for myself. Ours is a special relationship because she started out as my counsellor but she didn't leave me when I was better, instead she still keeps in touch and is concerned about what is happening in my life. Thank God for a friend like her.

I have one best friend that I could really count on him with my life. He is there for me in good and bad times. He helps and will help me in no matter what I ask him for and I would do the same for him. He is my friend for one reason and it's for who I am.

It is wonderful to have a friend like that, one you can count on and trust to give advice. I have a friend whom I've had since I was five and whatever happens to me, I know she will always be there for me. She may not agree with what I do, but she knows it is my life and I have to live it as I see fit. She always offers great advice when I need it, and she is always there to lend an ear if I need someone to listen or a shoulder to cry on if that's the case. We all need to have more friends like this and the world would be a much better place.

It is good to have a friend isn't it? If it weren't for friends there will be that many more depressed people. And I believe that many people have been deterred from taking their lives because they have good friends whom they can count on.

I dont befriend a lot of people in general and the people who I do call my friends all of which I do believe I could count on. But if I am in dire need of something or someone to help me I know I will always count on my brother and/or my mother.

When family members are our friends as well as just being related by blood it is such a blessing. I know of many who can't get along with their family members and they don't know and don't bother what is happening each others lives. Thank you for sharing.

Yup, giving and taking - frienship should be like that. But doesn't matter who takes or gives more. Some of us have more needs than others. God bless you and your friends.

You are also blessed to have a husband whom you can share everything with. In fact, I feel that everyone who are married should be able to say that their wife/husand is their best friend. God bless you both.

Yes I have several that I can count on. One of them lives only 45 minutes away. My Best Friend of 19 years lives where I have just moved away from and she has always been there for me. But my Friend here is also here for me when I need her and understands and does not condemn me or anything like that.

Doesn't it give you a warm feeling when we have friends like that? Just thinking of them makes the problem seem a little easier to face.

I am very fortunate in that I have 4 friends who I know without a doubt htat I would trust with my life. And I believe they feel that way about me also. I know that it is a blessing because most people do not have that many very close friends over a lifetime. I thank God for them every day.

Thank you for the reminder - I need to show some kind of appreciation regularly. I am afraid of losing her cos her health is not so good now. So, I should cherish the time we still have together.

I think that after having a good family which cares for and is near you on the difficult situations of your life the next more important thing is having some good friends.

You are so right. I agree with you on that. Besides our family whom we sometimes take for granted, having good friends is definitely a blessing. Thanks for your input.

You are very lucky to have friend like this. And I respect you for accepting her as your friend inspite of such gap of age. I wish I had some friend like yours. Right now I don't have any real friends, after marriage I got so busy with my home and children that I lost contact with all my old friends and have no time to make new friends. But I do miss a friend. There was one friend who could have been my best friend, but she migrated to canada and like me she too got busy with her job and family. Well this is life. I am happy for you. May your friendship flourish more and more.

I'm sorry you didn't keep on with your friend who migrated to Canada. Maybe you could email her or surprise her with a long distance call. I'm sure she would be so pleasantly surprised and delighted. Who knows, your friendship can pick up from there again. All the best and thank you for your encouraging response.

Yes! I have these 2 buddies of mine and we have been friends for more than 6 years now. I met those 2 during my college days and fascinatingly enough the 3 of us share the same interest. Since I don't have any siblings these 2 are like my own brothers and they also feel the same way about me. They have been there in the lowest point of my life always lending a helping hand, giving some advise and guiding me as we mature. All of us have our own families now but we still see each other and we make it a point that we get together even once or twice a month. They have never failed me ;)

That's really fantastic! Your friendship have stood the test of time and also stood firm even though you now have your own families and still continue to meet regularly, and I know that's not easy. Takes a lot of commitment to keep it up. May your friendships last forever.

It is true - it's only when we are in trouble that we are better able to tell who are our real friends. I am glad that you do have a husband and friend you can count on.

You are blessed for having a friend like that! I also have my set of best friends and so far, we have been there for each other. I can say that my bestfriends are the ones i really can count on. Through good times and bad, they are with me to celebrate or to cheer me up.. Because of them, I also try my very best to be a friend that they can always count on. I am sure you are also inspired by that friend of yours and so, you are also a friend that she can count on. God bless!

I hope I can also reciprocate my friend's kindness to me but she has done so much for me that it will be difficult. But I am indeed thankful that God brought her into my life and helped me through the worst period of my difficulties and she never gave up on me. I am glad you have such friends too and are one to them as well. Thank you for sharing.

Even though i am only in the sixth grade, i have a friend that i have been able to count on every time i need her. she has always helped me and she always tries to make me feel better when i am upset or just feel sick. she is the most loyal and great friend i have ever had. every time i miss a day of school she calls me when she gets home and always asks me " are you ok? you weren't at school today and i am getting worried about you". she is really the only trustworthy friend i have. some of the other people i hang out with really aren't my friends i just need someone to talk to in this world besides only talking to my animals!!! and that is why my friend is the greatest friend i have ever had.

That is very special. Thank you for sharing. My mom used to be my best friend and I could talked to her about anything and she never was judgemental. She gave me good advise and left it to me to make my own descision. I miss her a lot.

May I assume that your mom is not with you any more? But I am glad that you do have warm and pleasant memories of the close times you had with her. I'm sure many people would have envied that. God bless you.
