Hello all..yes, once again, I am here to get recipes. I am trying to gain weight, and milkshakes, supplements and the like just aren't working. Someone suggested pasta, and lots of it the other day, and I would like to try it. The more fattening, the better! Rich sauces, loads of cheese, whatever it is that you do to your pasta, please let me know! And thank you to all that reply to my constant search to gain weight!

My favorite pasta dish is lasagna. I start by putting a jar or two of spaghetti sauce in the crock pot. I let it simmer all day. This may sound strange but I put in a whole stick of butter and a pinch or two of sugar. I brown some hamburger in a pan and then put it into the sausce. I also add garlic and onions but you don't have to. Then later, I cook the lasagna noodles. I put a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of a cake pan. Then a layer of noodles, usually three rows. Next comes the ricotta cheese and lots of it. If you don't like ricotta, then you can use cottage cheese. Then comes a layer of sauce. And now the shredded cheese. We get the shredded pizza cheese because there are three different kinds of cheese in it. You can use whatever you like. Then start over another layer of noodles, ricotta cheese, sauce and shredded cheese. I usually have three layers of each. bake in a 350 degree oven for about an hour depending on how you like it. Enjoy! If I could, I would give you some of my weight because I have the opposite problem from you.

ok, here we go. this one helped me to go from 155 to nearly 200 in less than 10 months! Fettucine Alfredo 6-8oz of heavy cream samll handful of flat-leaf parsely - chopped finely small handful of chives or green onions - chopped fresh basil - chopped 1 clove of garlic - finely minced 3/4 cup of grated parmigiano cheese - not kraft! 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper combine all of these ingredients in a saute pan. once your pasta has come to nearly al dente drain it into a colander. put the saute pan on a burner and turn the burner up to high. bring the sauce to a complete boil, this will reduce the sauce and it will begin to thicken. once it's at a complete boil add the fettucine. bring the sauce back to a boil, tossing or mixing the pasta and the sauce with tongs. do this for a minute or two until all of the sauce has reduced and is clinging to the pasta! put the pasta on a plate and add more freshly grated parmigiano! if you want, you can also add cooked chicken, broccoli and or whatever you want! cant't wait for dinner tonight.

It's not personal at all. I actually am between 98 - 105 on a regular basis, and would love to get to my BMI range of 115 lbs. Being too thin is just as unhealthy as being obese. I'm not anorexic looking, I do have a little chub here and there, but would love to have my weight at it's healthy weight range. Thanks for responding :)

Try using white pasta. Not rice or wheat. Eat a lot of it 3 times a day. You can have it in the morning with eggs and butter mixed in it. Very good. You can have it at lunch with a can of tuna or salmon mixed in it in a cream sause with cheese, and you can have it at dinner with a lot of cheese and ground beef or chicken. Also, eat ice cream and cheese cake. If you do not gain from this, you must have a very active matabolizim. See the doctor. Bless you and good luck. M&M

Some great ideas. Thanks for taking the time to post. I do indeed have a very active metabolism, and the doctors say that they can't give me anything to slow it down, but that I should eat less...hmm. They said that the less I eat, the slower my metabolism goes, and that when I eat the way I do, my metabolism races. This kinda makes sense to me, but I love my food..lol. I can't just stop eating! :)

hmmmm, today i found a great lasagna recipe..i will taste tonight, sounds delicious,i will share with you the recipe so you can taste too:) World's Best Lasagna INGREDIENTS 1 pound sweet Italian sausage 3/4 pound lean ground beef 1/2 cup minced onion 2 cloves garlic, crushed 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste 2 (6.5 ounce) cans canned tomato sauce 1/2 cup water 2 tablespoons white sugar 1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil leaves 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning 1 tablespoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper 4 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley 12 lasagna noodles 16 ounces ricotta cheese 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon salt 3/4 pound mozzarella cheese, sliced 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese DIRECTIONS In a Dutch oven, cook sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until well browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, and water. Season with sugar, basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, 1 tablespoon salt, pepper, and 2 tablespoons parsley. Simmer, covered, for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes. Drain noodles, and rinse with cold water. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with egg, remaining parsley, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). To assemble, spread 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange 6 noodles lengthwise over meat sauce. Spread with one half of the ricotta cheese mixture. Top with a third of mozzarella cheese slices. Spoon 1 1/2 cups meat sauce over mozzarella, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers, and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Cover with foil: to prevent sticking, either spray foil with cooking spray, or make sure the foil does not touch the cheese. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil, and bake an additional 25 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes before serving.

Make a second layer of noodles, sauce and cheese. Bake in preheated 325o oven for close to 1 hour; top should be nicely browned. **************************** This is a nice easy one, great for guests that drop in at the last minute. Not sure why you are trying to gain weight, but I can understand, since that is a problem of mine. I am always trying to gain weight also, because I lose it too quickly, and become unhealthy. I have learned, that tuna slows down metabolism, so that might be a way to keep yourself from getting too thin, add that to a tuna noodle casserole, and you are good to go. There are many different types, and if you have a favorite chef that you like the way they cook, then I would recommend seeing what style they use. However, I find it is much easier to look at the chefs of HGTV's recipes online, because they all make it a bit differntly. This is not only a recipe that will help you gain weight, but it is healthy weight, because it does good things for your body also. Paula Deen tends to have really fattening food, and I just love her. Check out her recipes on HGTV.com...good luck.

My favorite pasta recipe: Garlic in Olive oil Fry at least 2 tablespoons of minced garlic in 2-3 tbsps olive oil add crushed chile if you want it to be a little spicy. Brown the garlic but be careful not to burn it. Add a pinch of salt. Stir in atleast 2 cups of the cooked pasta in the oil. Mix. Sprinkle with dried basil and thyme. Add cheese if you want. Weight gain is not obtained by eating any single food.Carbohydrates are not fattening but it is what we add to them that is (butter, margarine.mayonnaise) More info about pasta and your diet: www.ilovepasta.org/diet_matters.html Seriously, if you want to gain weight build your muscles (not the bulk type though). This discussion is making me hungry! I love pasta! All kinds! I posted one recipe in my blog (pasta ilokana; baduday.wordpress.com). It's olive oil-based with native sausage, bell peppers, and lotsa parmesan cheese. Have you gone to a doctor for your weight-gain problem? Perhaps he can check your thyroid or if there's some sort of hormonal imbalance. I think that can play a role in the body's metabolism.
