Squee! I get to go to a Lush store this weekend! What to buy, what to buy?!?!

I hardly ever get to go to a physical store unless I'm visiting my parents in DC or if I drive 7 hours to Boulder, CO. This weekend, the hubby and I are off to Boulder for a visit. So, what should I buy? I think I should get a bio fresh or two for sure. But what do you think is better in a store than via mail order, in terms of freshness and quality? I'm also going to try to scope out some of their lotions as my Burt's Bees is running low. Do you think that the stores still have any discontinued/xmas items left?

I read somewhere on the NA Forum that the stores had to pull the remaining Xmas stock on Feb 1. Honestly, the only things I usually buy at the NOLA store are BioFresh and things that are already packaged. The bath bombs, bubble bars, soaps etc are seem fresher from mail order.

Sometimes I think the bombs look a little, uh, dusty at the store. I think I'm going to get a brazened honey Bio for sure, and then maybe catastrophe cosmetic, b/c I love it. I haven't smelled a lot of the "new" products, like the jellys yet. Maybe if I'm in a real good mood, I'll give those a peek.

It will definately be a good opportunity to smell the scents you weren't sure of before ordering.

Ask for some jelly samples or other samples of other things yu haven't tried yet! My shop is pretty generous with giving out samples (the samples are a lot more generous than the mail order ones.)

Going to the store is the best, because you can hand pick what you want. Some of the BBS are bigger than others and fresher. Def take advantage of the Fresh masks. Next time you are visiting your family in DC you should let us know on the forum, there might be a meet up.

I do hope you will have a ball. Christmas items are pretty much gone out my way. They are busy with Valentines now. Try going to the body shop for some nice things. They will be fresh, rather than via mail order. All lotions and perfumes are best bought in the store in my opinion. In any even, just enjoy yourself, and stay warm.Blessings, M&M

hopefully they will have discons or xmas stuff left. hmmm, i would buy....everything. Naw, but I would buy soaps cut to order, jellies cut to order and biofresh. I would definitly ask for lots of samples if possible. They may have a vday party on saturday if you go, as I see lots of store parties are going this saturday. have fun!

They *do* have one this weekend and I RSVP'ed. I hope I get a goody bag. I've been to one other store party in Georgetown. I can't remember the theme- maybe Cherry Blossoms? The point being, I got a goody bag which was nice. (It was a mad-house in there, though.)

I am happy that you are getting to go to a store. I am planning a trip into the Newbury St shop tomorrow. I am excited since I don't get to go to a shop that often. I would only recommend you get 1 bio-fresh. Two of them may be a waste..since they are only good for up to three weeks after you buy them. Pay close attention to the expiration dates on the masks. Other people on the forum have said that sometimes they get free masks if the masks are about to expire. I would NOT buy the following from a store.. Soap- usually kind of old.. I like the fresh stuff from mail order Solid shampoos- kind of old/dusty in the shop Buttercreams- if you like "fresh" buttercreams.. if you cure them than go ahead and buy them in the shop I would buy pretty much everything else at a shop. As for bath bombs/bubble bars I agree that they are a bit banged up/dusty in the shops. They are much nicer when you get them from mail order but I still pick up a few when I go to a shop. If I buy bubble bars at a store I usually dig to get the best ones anyway.

Gasp! That's a good point about the V-day parties. I should check on the lush forum to see if they've got one going on.

Me too! I really wanted to go to the V-day party, but Mardi Gras parades start uptown and we live right on the parade route so it would be hard to get down the french quarter.

Honestly, I'd buy whatever products that seem to catch your eye or ones you were always thinking about but have never had the chance to try so far. If you're planning on buying a Biofresh mask or two it would be a good idea to bring along a small insulated cooler to keep them cold on the drive back home. I usually have a small one in my trunk just in case. Mask of Magnaminty is a good mask for people like me who tend to forget to use up Biofresh ones. Have fun and don't forget to ask for samples if there's something you don't know if you really want to spend the money on just yet.

Not even HIWTK?!? Honey I Washed the Kids seems to have a rather universal appeal. And it has a piece of honeycomb printed wax on the edge, which is a nice design touch.

This interesting, I did not realize that there was so much detail involved with getting soap, and stuff. There are somethings that I buy regularly, and some that I experiment with, and then, there are stuff that I will never by again. But yes, I love burt's bees...especially their peppermint bar of soap, it is so yummy, and good on the skin...I also like their creams, they are really good. Usually though, I just get scented stuff from Victoria's Secret and Bath and Body Works, since they usually have their semi-annual sales right after new years. Now, before I realized that everyone here was talking about soap (I had to read everyone's responses, because I was confused), I was going to suggest that you get a pair of leather boots, because there are so many nice ones, and they are on sale...macy's has a wide variety right now, and they are sooooo cheap. I bought my mom a pair of hush puppies. I have a pair of clark's but I didn't want to buy myself the same style, so I decided to wait to see if they have anything different next week...that is what I recommend. A really nice pair of fun, warm, and comfortable pair of leather boots. :)

Yep - us Lushies are freaks! Fanantics. We need a 12 step program. It's all worth it though. Lush products are wonderful.

Hope they have some discounted / Xmas items left. Just buy what you want, what you like. But make sure to look at the instructions on the label and check the production date, expiry date.

A lot of people on here seem to like Lush a lot. We have one here and the store smells too good I get a headache just passing by it. I have bought some soap with honey before but it's just too expensive. How expensive is it there in America compared to regular bath soap? Out here it's like 5 to 7x more expensive.

Karma, has to be one of the best ever perfumes from Lush. The bath bombs will be fine, and try to get some of the soaps too. I was given some of their shower gel bubbles at Christmas, they were gorgeous and work really well in the bath too.

Biofresh!!! I also like going to the stores for advice on products I am considering. Since I'm there in person, a SA can look at me, look at my skin type, and make a better recommendation than I might get on the forum.

I like going into the stores for the same reasons, too. Sometimes it's not a good thing when there's new sales girls that try to push products on me that aren't quite what I was looking for but now most of them know me and my likes and dislikes so it's easier to recommend adding a product or two to what I already use.

I love this store! Definitely get some bath bombs. I think that I am so lucky to live near one- Boston has a store on Newbury Street that is very nice.

Oh I love shopping on Newberry Street. It's so quaint. I haven't been to Boston in a while, but next time I go I'll have to check out the Lush there. I've heard a lot of good things about the sales associates there.

I would buy things that have a good chance of breaking and leaking in shipping. For instance, if you like the shower gels or one of the liquid shampoos. I'm really excited that you get to go to the store though. It's so much fun and you get to ask for specific samples. Not to mention the money you save on shipping... Then again, the store prices where I am are more expensive than mail order. So I suppose it kinda evens out in the end.

Here is my stratagy at the stores: If I haven't tried a product I buy a small peice. The last time we went I'm sure the SAs hated me because I bought 1/2 to 1 oz of several soaps, body butters, face cleaning products, and jellies that I wanted to try. You can't buy small chunks in mail order - so I always buy small chunks at the store. I can't get samples of everything so I buy small peices of the stuff I can and then I ask for samples of things like Marilyn and Big. Ask for samples - unlike mail order, you can get more than two - but you have to ask. Oh - and I would go on the forums under stores and ask about the shop, the best time to go, etc etc and then they will know who you are when you get there. Sometimes they give you extras when you talk to them on the forum. Don't buy body butters at the store - they are chalky and kind of old. Another thing - the store is a little more expensive than online. Aside from buying small peices of things that I want to try - I mostly use the shop visits as a chance to smell stuff to see if I like it. As someone else mentioned stuff seems to be fresher through mailorder. I would think you are safe buying stuff that is in sealed containers - just check the dates. But if it's sitting out, exposed to the air get it online as it will be fresher there. Also does it weird anyone else out but me that all those melts, soaps etc are sitting out and tons of people touch them and pick them up and put them to their nose to smell? I know in mailorder someone has to touch them to wrap them... but that's just one person. Anyway have fun on your trip and be sure to let us know what you get. I'm excited fr you.

Biofresh's, for sure!!!! You can't get them through MO and they are AMAZING. I doubt the stores have any discons, but they might have some christmas stuff. Ask for samples, too. I've heard stores will give you free samples if you ask.
