NY store drops 'faux fur' jackets. "Faux fur" linings were made from dog fur.

A New York department store has said it is pulling two models of hooded jackets from its shelves after claims the "faux fur" linings were made from dog fur. A US animal protection organization said the hooded jackets at Macy's were lined with raccoon dog. Raccoon dogs, which are not kept as pets, are bred in large numbers as their fur is like that of the raccoon. Macy's said it was removing the items to comply with its policy against selling any dog or cat fur. How anyone can label "faux fur", when actually it is animal fur?

i did not know that faux fur were made from dog fur , that is news to me, it is kinda sad that people are using animals fur as clothing, and worst of all that they try to cover it up and say it is not their fault, someone, some where is making tons of money off it and someone is hiding things from everyone , sad world

This seems like a big of a huge mistake to me. Surely someone must have noticed. sounds to me like they were covering it up as they didn't want to get into trouble. I think all fur should be banned, we don't need to wear it so why hurt the animals unecessarily.

Urgh, not nice no wonder they dropped them. I have heard of people grooming their angora rabbits and using the fur but I get the feeling this is not the case with raccoon dogs, wool I can cope with the sheep are quite pleased to get it sheared off in the spring, although I don't like to eat sheep.

so as I suspected the racoon dogs had to die for this, I can deal with brushed out fur but that is truly disgusting, we should be ashamed.

it was made with fur, not just raccoon dog's hair. when people brush angora rabbits, they use hair only not fur.

OMG, I'm glad to hear that they pulled them. I can't believe someone was selling them as faux fur when it was real? I hope they sue the company they bought them from for false products. They are lucky they didn't have more trouble then just some information from the US animal protection organization. Some would have really caused them trouble for it. I feel sorry for the poor person who ordered the jackets. You know they are being called on to the carpet for it.

It was not only at Macys but also in different locations. It was made in China.
