I go to Athens about once a year and when I'm not there, there are a lot of things I miss about it. What are some of your favorite things about visiting Athens?
for me:
*people watching from my seat outside a cafe as I stir my cold frappe.
*seeing the beautiful people and the fashion trends.
*taking the train to see a Panathinaikos match, with the traincars packed with green-clad sportsfans.
*driving through the city in E's convertable.

definitely! I tell people to go there all the time. Glad I could jog good memories for you. how long ago were you there?
my husband and I love that at any hour of the day, there's something to do there. Where we are in the states just doesn't compare. (of course, he sometimes tries to talk me into moving to Athens permanently, but that's a different story. check out my other discussion topic to read why..)

These are the things I like:
* fashionable, beautiful people
* the beautiful metro (containing geological finds) and the fact it works almost on a kind of honour system rather than containing barriers and ticket collectors everywhere
* my relatives who live there and their sense of humour
* the yeeros
* the passionate debates that everyone gets involved with
* the neo-classic, ancient, byzantine and modern, architecture all in the same place
* the incredible nightclubs
* the food generally
* the Africans selling bootleg CD's on the corner
* I feel at home in Athens!
