I'm looking to seriously start decorating my house now that I've been here a while. I'm debating what color schemes to go with, what styles, etc. and of course am on a budget.
What color schemes do you have in the various rooms of your home? What themes do you use?

My living room is a Philadelphia Eagles room since I have an Eagles clock, banner, throw towel, pillows and other Eagles merchandise spread out throughout the room. It has a lot of green and white in it. The only thing that does not match is the carpeting in the room which is tan. LOL Green and white probably would not be a good room color combination. :-)

LOL som! Isn't it funny... a man thinks a room dressed in their favorite team is the bomb and women usually get totally upset by it! Kgwat, you must have a great wife! LOL

I have a main centre wall in my lounge that is painted deep red and cream walls on the opposite sides, I have cream carpets and everything else is netural on one of the cream walls i have 2 large black and white feng shui paintings that draws the colour out to the red wall.
In my bathroom it is white wash with wooden flooring and it is a boat and beach theme, everything in there is wooden and painted white and the majority of the items like the mirror i made from drift wood of the beach so this is a very cheap option but effective

We have been remodeling the front of our house (living room, dining room, and foyer) and we drywalled and painted it a soft light green color. We are going for a tropical theme. I have a collection of wicker trays I want to put on the walls, and I have some ceramic decorator plates and jars with jungle print patterns, plus some little jungle animal figurines. We still haven't replaced the furniture; I want a neutral color, probably tan or brown, with bright throw pillows, maybe red or orange. I'd like to get some palm trees for the corner. I want one of those funky little elephant end tables.

If you're patient enough you might find one at a garage sale this summer! I got my girls some very little tables from LTD one time that were jungle themed.. one was an elephant and one was I think a giraffe. They had matching lamps to put on them also. The tables were very small, only big enough to perhaps hold a plant.. but cute.

Most of my house is done in a black, hot pink, and orange color scheme. My furnishings and accessories are mostly contemporary and mid-century modern. :)

I love the black and hot pink combo. I thought of doing my bedroom in that but somehow ended up doing it in rose and a sea foam greenish color (almost slate). With winter upon us, I pretty much toss on the warmest quilt and don't care what color it is though! lol

I don't really keep up with what is in. I do know that lighthouses seemed to be popping up everywhere about 10 years ago. I have my dining room and living room with a lighthouse theme. The colors are mauve and blue. It really looks nice together. Good luck on your choices!

I dont' really even care "what's in" as much as if it's something I like. I just am at a loss at how to decorate anymore. I dunno.. just lost the desire to do so I think. LOL

I really like vivid bright colors. I guess I kind of go for an art deco style. I have reds and oranges and some tan on my first floor. My basement is bright yellow and bright green and my top floor only has my kids rooms done and the bathrooms. I don't know what to do with mine yet. I like to change up a lot though. One boys room is a green and one is a gold. I used the green b/c it's a jungle theme and the gold b/c it's a cowboy theme. Their bathroom is turqoise and ours is a orange color that is more like peanut butter almost but with a little more terra cotta to it. The turqoise is for an underwater theme. I used the bright colors in the basement b/c I didn't want it to look like a lot of basements that are dark and dreary.

We have a lot of green in our house. Of course our house is older, it was built in the 70's, and the color schemes that were built into we had to work around. I'm talking about cabinets and tiles. Our kitchen has the avacodo green sink and dark green wood style cabinets. For that we used an ivy and white contact paper on the cabinet doors to give it an inset look and it offset the dark green that was there. In the bathroom we have that sick gold tile and tub. We did a dark green paint on the walls in there with bamboo stalks on the shower curtain and a matching under liner in the same color as the wall. It really made the ugly gold look more yellow and balanced it out. Now our other bathroom has pink tile, sink and toilet. That one we went with blues to help balance it out. Sometimes you have to look at what is already there and work around it.

im all the time changing the colors and themes of my rooms except for my kitchen that is always the same, light yellow, black appliances and sunflowers! that has always been my thing, my bathrooms are hello kitty (for my daughter) and as of right now te main bathroom is a misture of greens, frog toothbrush holders, basket, toiliet etc. and the walls are paintd as a pond (very cute!)
most of the stuff that i purchase decor etc ig ot from the local dollar tree. they have really nice stuff there and different decorating ideas.
My husbands aunt is the all time greatest when it comes to decorating, she wall papered her living room a woodsy tree like paper, went in her back yard and got real limbs and stuff and staples them on her wall, along with some dry leaves. She put deer and bear decorations all around, real logs along the trim. pinecones, pine scented candles etc. when you walk into her living room it seriously looks as if you just stepped into the woods.

I have gone with a very pottery barn kind of look. I know boring...but the earth tones are so comforting. I recently repainted my dining and living rooms a cappuccino/frappuccino, have white crown molding at the ceiling level a brown couch with a huge ottoman. It is jut comfortable. I have literally removed all the little items that are in constant need of dusting. It is really simplistic.
