I have been suffering from writers block since the birth of m son. I just haven't had the time to sit and actually focus my mind on writing. It's frustrating because the ideas used to jsut come to me out of nowhere. Now I'm sitting there with a piece of paper for hours getting nowhere.
I need some help from you fellow writers. How do you overcome writers block?

I think sometimes we just need to step back from our expectations on ourselves as writers. If there is a lot of pressure to push past this, or to achieve, it'll clog up the creativity channel and block what you have inside you from coming out. I know for me sometimes a good meditation will help get me through a thick block.

There are several different methods I use to "break the block". I have actually had an article published on AC that illustrates one method that I use. Please read it, and let me know if it helps. If not, I can also suggest several other things to get your creative juices going. How old is your son?

If you are intested in also writing for AC, my referral link is: http://www.associatedcontent.com/join.html?refer=15512
I'd be happy to help you any way I can, so you can get writing again.

I have never been able to sit with a piece of paper and write. My ideas always come to me when I am doing something else. I understand how the mind becomes full with daily chores. While tending to your son, cleaning, or when he is asleep, have you not thought of anything? Perhaps the quiet of the house, the tiredness you feel ( I know how newborns are) perhaps looking up some stuff on the internet about lack of sleep, bags under your eyes, babies that don't take naps and so on. Maybe write about just what is going on in your life on a daily basis and see where it goes from there.

I listen to music. Or go for a walk..or read..or watch a movie..I think about my beliefs, things I think are beautiful, I chat with friends..and often..something small from one of these things triggers my inspiration and all of the sudden I can write again. The longest I ever had writer's block was a month..usually I get over it after about a week.

Someone on here told me that writing is the only job where people would rather be scrubbing their toilet...sometimes writing is so daunting!! :-)
Cut yourself a break...just try some free writing about anything and nothing...there are also some really good prompt websites on the net, check them out.
