Child molester sentenced to 800 years!

SAN JOSE, Cali.
Fred Everts, 36, was convicted last year of molesting three youngsters, ages 3, 9, and 11. He was sentenced to 800 years to life.
........why give him 800 years this makes no sense! no one would ever live that long.

You already got a couple of good answers to this. Anyway, this is to keep him from ever getting out. Some convicted people always seem to find a way to get out on parole after awhile, and they didn't want this guy to ever be able to get out!

It's not about living that long. It's to help prevent him from getting out early due to good behavior. It's also designed to send a message to others. That if they do something like that they are looking at life in jail without a chance of a parol. I think he got what he deserved. I just wish he'd live long enough to serve at least half his sentence.
