Why Is The Sims Game So Addictive?

I know some of you absolutely hate the game, but i find it so addictive, it gets to the stage sometimes where i want to leave college early just to play it!!
But why is it so addictive when its basically waking someone up to go to work, have dinner then go to bed again?
Any suggestions?

I'm a sims addict, and I have been wondering about why I'm an addict too. I guess it's the control, you're like god or something. Not only are you a god, you're an architect, an interior designer and a fashion designer at the same time, just by building and designing their houses and choosing their clothes.
Plus you get to make decisions that you don't normally get to do in real life. Everything in this fantasy world of yours is yours to control, and it's you who decides who gets to die, who gets to do this or that, etc.
Fascinating game.

For me it is addictive because I can control their lives and make them do whatever I want them to do. Its like a fantasy to be what you have always wanted to be but cant seem to do in real life. So you play a game to do it. I cant wait to find out what my Sim husband and wife are going to have as far as a boy or a girl. if I don't like that Sims after a while I can start a new one. You cant really do that in real life.

I suppose that is quite true.
It just made me think really, because i'v spent hours on it at a time...
It is quite exciting when they fall in love and you can get cheats to make mansion houses lol.

I love designing the houses more than actually playing the game and once I got the cheat for getting tons of money then all I did was build houses! I suppose it's because that you can control their lives, how they look, what they do, who they marry etc etc, something you can't do in real life!

Addiction is not good at all.You admit that this game is not so great but you still think of it , and play it hours on end.
That means you either don't have something better to do, or the game has some subliminal messages that make trap you.You're lucky it's so easy to get rid of it, just a simple delete button,it's not at all like smoking where you are a slave to harmful substances.
