The speed of a computer depends mainly on the core processor. But also, memory affects a PC's performance. =) So for a PC to run smoothly and quickly, have a good processor and a considerable amount of memory (I keep my minimum at 512MB).

Well.... the speed of a computer depends on a lot of things. The best way that you can extract the maximum speed out of any PC is making sure that all the core components have the same bus speed. For example, if your processor has a bus speed of 667 MHz but your RAM has a bus speed of 233 MHz then you are not making the best use of your processor speed even if it is running at a very high clock speed. The data transfer speed of your hard drive can also influence the overall performance of your PC. The best bet to have a good speed is to go for a moderate processor with loads of RAM and a good Hard Drive.

Exactly you need a good processor, good ram with a good amount around 1-2 GB (depends on what you do, games or graphic designing) and a fast hdd so the can work well together, then you've got a fast pc. for gaming you would also need a good graphicscard but in some ranges a very fast processor can partially take the load from the graphicscard but that's very limited.

mainly it depends on the core processor. it is also greatly affected by the harddisk memory.

i forgot to mention RAM. if u play a lot of games on the pc, u should have a RAM over 512MB.

Mostly because of processor and RAM

Hello Computers run faster due to their processors. But you should have a compatible RAM (Random Access Memory)as CPU keeps its info in RAm and processess through it. Be carefull that you do not have a very large Hard disk because sometimes the RAM is smaller and Hard Disk is bigger so RAM takes a lot of time to fetch the desired data. All of the things go together and make a good running computer. You can see the compatibility specifications on internet. Cheers

Processor is main component which is reponsible for speed and Memory is second component which increase speed, i have low memory which is 256mb, and pentium3 processor which is 1.0ghz i will upgrade it to 2.4ghz and 1gb of ram.

it is the processor But it need a minimum requirement of all components like RAM, HDD etc. If the Processor is Best one and RAM has no speed then no use. Same case happens in HDD. if Hard Disk Drive has slow rpm then it will also affect performance. Use minimum 256 RAM of 400 Mhz and HDD of 7200 rpm.

To much complicated device to say in here if you want to know which device affected on your computer performance. just in easy step there is 2 important device you should take care on it for computer performance. first your computer processor speed and secondly your RAM installed in your computer.

as far as i know, it is because of RAM and its processor. :)

bcos of well conditioned processor and ram make the system run fast and faster

Actually almost all of the hardware resources' specifications contribute to the speed of your system. A good processor and a well timed memory, together with a high speed Hard Drive or Optical drive could really boost up your system's speed. Not to mention the Art of Over-clocking. (^_^)

It depends on your processor and your memory RAM. If you have a good processor(core 2 duo) and enough of memory RAM(about 1 GB), I think your computer can run quickly.

Simply put, anything in the pc that has the terms: cache rpm buffer memory mhz ghz virtual memory will affect the speed of your computer

All of those work hand in hand. The idea is very crude, more power, much faster. Imagine having a 3+Ghz dual core cpu but your running on ddr ram pc-333 and using an ide hardisk. Now compare that using the same processor but using a ddr2 800mhz ram with a sata2 hardisk. One fast and powerful pc part alone will not make the difference.

a PC is not a bike in which performance depends upon a single part if the machine. Therefore there are a lot of factors measuring the speed of your PC.

Well its maily depends upon the processor ..but also depends on the RAM size larger the size speedup the computer

The speed of Processor, Hard disk speed and the RAM these three are the main components for the speed of your computer.

Computer runs fast because of every component it has. Most critical being processor, ram and HDD. Your motherboard also plays a major role. Even if one of the component is slower, that will act as a bottleneck for data transfer. For Eg if you have a computer with Intel Core Duo with 3.4 HGz processor, 1Gb ram of 533MHz or higher and then a older PATA/IDE HDD, your HDD will be a bottleneck for other h/w. Other h/w have to wait for HDD to complete its task every time, making your computer slow. So, just a right combination of H/W and S/W makes your computer fast.

I think the main factor that affects the speed of a computer is its processor, but of course its ram have also some effect to its performance. I think its better to balance the pc's component, i mean the speed of each component should be considered to compliment each others performance as a whole unit.

Everyone are all right about the speed of the computer... and thats the combination of the processor and the memory. Like my old computer, im just running less that one Giga of processor but with a lot of memory... my computer runs real fast.
