To unbelievers and believers alike, the Gospel of John and Revelation. The Gospel of John begins with eternity past and Revelation ends with eternity future. These two books which were written by the Apostle John have simple words and the stories impressive, but the meanings very deep and profound.

Oops, sorry, I was confusing the Gospel of John with the letters of John. But, good choices anyway.

How I praise God that I am not limited to two books! I cherish them all.
If I had to choose, I couldn't go past Romans. Every major doctrine is found in Romans and it is one of the most logical books ever written. In fact, it is used by Harvard Law School as a textbook on presenting a court case.
My second choice would have to be the Gospel of John, but how could I possibly do without Ephesians, Colossians, Galatians, Genesis - and all of them! They all have importance and relevance. The Bible is God's complete revelation of Himself to mankind, and we cannot possibly do without any of it. It is my daily bread and I need it all!

Thanks!
The gospel of John seems to be the favorite here. I have to admit, though, for me, personally, it's not my favorite gospel. Not that there's anything wrong with it. But, a lot of people love it. It's very poetic and emphesizes the divinity of Jesus Christ.

I like Psalms, they're good in times of trouble or for inspiration. I have to say that the first book I ever read all the way through was Revelation. It compelled me to read more of the bible.

Desertdarlen, the first book of the Bible that I'd suggest people to read is Genesis, because it tells how God spoke things into existence. And the second book I'd reccomend is St. John because it tells how in the beginning was the Word and the Word was God and the Word was with God. And also it teaches on prayer and how Jesus chose us and we didn't choose Him.

Two good choices there. I agree with you, but I couldn't go past Romans for the first choice.

I would recommend John because I think it is a great Gospel, and then also Psalms because it is such a great source of comfort, strength, and sign of Gods love for us throughout all of our lifes circumstances.

GOTTA READ Proverbs!!! It's my favorite. Since I have not yet finished reading the Bible, I can't really say what other books I prefer yet.

I would have to tell someone not to Start in the Old Testament. I would recommend John...the book of Love...basically the whole life of Jesus and his purpose. Then the Book of Romans or Galatians and the rest of the New Testament. Then go back to the Old Testament and read it.

I would suggest John's Gospel and Psalms. It's hard to pick just two, but I think John's gospel does a great job of telling what happened in Jesus' time and how he came to save the world. Psalms has a lot of beautiful poetry in it. It would teach someone about praising God and loving him.

How do you know that Luke is the most accurate writer? Are there other written sources from the time telling of his great writing ability and confirming what he has written?

How do you know he's not?
There are actually quite a bit of other written sources from that time about his writing ability, education, and the subject matter. Luke actually interviewed many of the first hand witnesses and was known to be a great physician and very well educated. The rest of the Gospel as well as other accounts confirm his subject matter, in the very least. I can't name the other sources, but I know there are some.
If you would actually read the book of Luke, you would see it done in a very well-balanced, objective style. And, he was physically there for many of the events that happend in Acts.

I would suggest 1 John and 1 Corinthians beacause they demonstrate God's love for all of his creation. They are also not very long books and therefore do not seem daunting like other books of bible can seem. Luke and Acts are very good choices for those looking for a good history of the beginnings of Chritianity.

Thanks, that's true what you say about the two books you recommended. I like them both, too. It's hard to choose among so many good ones.
