My friend loves reading self-help books. How to Cope up with pain? How to mend a broken heart? Ways to Earn Fast Money? And a lot more. I have nothing against these books, but I am just curious at how can they really help? Are they good investments for collection? PLease share your thoughts.

It depends on the book that you have bought. Usually, you get the amount of information/help by the price of the book. If you bought a cheap book, most probably you'll get cheap advice. But if you would really choose good, if not, excellent books, it is a life changing information if you do as it recommended. As I've heard somewhere "knowledge is not power unless you put it into action."

Books are investment, it does help, because all we know experience is one who teached us to be emotionally strong, and knowing other experiences thru books can be very much helpful for them.

There are quality self-help books which contain good info and interesting suggestions. They can be helpful and worth collecting. And then there are the other ones like the ones you mention here. Anything that generalizes everything canĀ“t be helpful. "How to cope with pain" for example. We all have a different way of doing this, apart from the fact that some individuals are more sensitive to pain than others.
In my opinion these tipe of books are not worth the money.

I think there is nothing wrong with self help books. One of the great things about them is that they get the reader to think in new ways. Every person takes different things from the books, and I believe that these books can change the way you think about things. There is nothing wrong with wanting to better yourself and there is no better way to do that than to learn.
I am not sure if these books are necessarily good investments for collecting purposes but I think they are good investments for bettering yourself.

There is only one book that is of help and is FREE and has every answer man can ask and that is the bible. All self help books are reiterations of truths already addressed with different opinions. (Man's Philosophy) Don't get me wrong it not wrong to read these books, I just find that it's a waste of money.

I think just like novels.
You can find useful "self help books" and also find ones which wouldn't help you with anything and normally most don't help you because they point out what you already know. you just don't know how to do it! i know alot of people who read things like this and they can do it on there own.
The books are useful don't get me wrong. 4/10 are.. the rest are mainly junk put together for profit and a quick way to make a buck.
Kudos!

I love to read self-help books. They really give good advice in different topics. I find them interesting and good to read. I even have audiobooks.
