I find that sometimes I will eat for no reason at all. Maybe it's out of boredom. Other times it's stress or nerves, or just watching TV can make you want to snack. Even healthy snacks can be a bad thing if you eat too much of them. That's why I spend so much time on the computer. You can't type and eat at the same time!

I usually eat to eat for a few reasons.
Sometimes I am getting ready to start my cycle and I will just eat.
And even though I had a hysterectomy...I still ovulate from time to time. So my body is fooled into believing it will have a cycle.
I will eat when I am bored.
Come on...there is no pick-me-up like a good ice cream when you are bored. LOL
Or, when I am watching a movie. It seems as if snacking goes with watching TV. LOL
I think the key is to finding healthy snacks that are not so bad.
I have recently taken up to snacking on peanuts. Low carbs, I buy the ones with less sodium...and if I eat them one at a time, I can snack for a while. :)

I often eat even though I´m not hungry, for example just afer dinner. In my opinion, hormones play a big role if you eat to eat or have food cravings. That might be what´s happening to you. Stress and hormones are related, even more so if you are a woman.
I do Yoga at night, that really takes your mind of food. You don´t have to be an expert, a few exercises (aasanas) work wonders.
Hope this helps

I think it is because of the emotional rollercoaster that you have been on. Food is a source of comfort for me when I am under stress. I just eat. It's like when all else fails at least you still have you tastebudes syndrome lol.
I know that if I had undergone the stress that you went through in the last while, I would be eating non stop.

Oh YEAH! And, this is why I am about 80 lbs overweight! Eating is a very personal and emotional thing for a lot of people. I eat when I'm bored or when I am sad. If I'm having a bad day, I eat. It doesn't matter what it is, it goes in my mouth. Luckily, I am changing my ways and eating better and making better choices. You just have to listen to your body and see if you are really hungry or not. if not, stay away from the kitchen. :) Are you sad? Are you bored? These could be the reasons you are eating right now. Are you pregnant? LOL I ate all the time when I was pregnant with my son!

This often happens to me. I think it's usually triggered by boredom or stress. Try to do something that keeps your hands busy, so you can't eat. I love to knit, and when I am kinnitng, I'm pretty focused, and both hands are occupied, so I can't snack. If you really need something, how about making sure you have plenty of veggies around, or some sugar free hard candies. They last a long time.

Hi! I do the same thing, and I don't really know why. Sometimes I eat because of stress, sometimes boredom, and sometimes I just can't resist a snack - like Cheetohs twists! LOL It might be because it's winter time, we stay inside more, it gets dark early, there's less to do socially.... it's probably just a winter phase. :-)

I was doing that until I started keeping a food journal. Then I saw that I would eat something every night at 10 PM. I thought at first it was boredom. Then I realized that I was eating b/c my husband would get up and fix something for himself...out of boredom. So, no more 10 pm eating. lol

A food journal is a great idea! I have a friend who is very into fitness and nutrition and he swears by it. I try not to eat after 9pm...although on nights when I have to work really late, that gets harder and harder not to.

Yes, i ve done that. I think it's only a habit. If you don't do it regularly, you won't do it. Beware of fat.

I used to do this a lot more than I've been doing it recently. I found for myself that a lot of it is boredom, or lack of anything better to do. Also, if I have just been to the grocery store, and know I have 4 things I really like available its tempting to do that.

This happens to me all the time, I think it's actually quite common. If you're bored, feeling emotionally stressed or just in need of some kind of comfort, food seems like the easiest solution sometimes. The biggest problem with this is that we always go for the junkie foods and never crave an apple to help us in our time of discomfort, it's always the foods that will end up on our thighs and make us feel even worse in the end!

hey the answer is simple. to survive in this world we have to take food even if you dont feel hungry. there are a variety of medical conditions where you dont feel hundry at all. just because these people do not feel hungry they cant stop taking food? they have to takr food in order to keep their body energetic.

Hi Margie, sounds like emotional eating. What we call 'feeding the feelings.' You have had a lot going on in your life lately and the associated feelings are really hard to deal with, leaving you undoubtedly a basket of conflicting emotions. If you are one that tries to stifle the anxiety, and 'hold it together' then you have likely been numb and robotic. That takes a lot of energy and people tend to eat more or less out of a need to 'do something' when the edginess/anxiety tris to rear its ugly head! There is no more important time for you to do something active. Is it too cold out for you to walk? If so, then put on some up-beat music and march in place! That internal anxiety needs to come out of there...march it out!! Clear your mind...deep breath! I belive you'll feel less like eating !! Good luck and cyber hugs!

I think it is the winter blues. I have been doing that too and it is not something that I do normally. I am just tired of winter

I have done that before. Sometimes it can be stress, or depression or even boredom. Next time you feel the urge to snack, get yourself busy with something,or call a friend, read a book, anything that can keep your mind off of snacking. Sometimes when I get anxious or upset, food used to be a comfort food.
