Yes, I still listen to cassettes because I have them to listen to. I am not going to go out and buy a CD of the same recording when I have it on cassette. Unfortunately you cannot buy cassettes anymore, which bothers me because they were so much cheaper than CD's. I have Christmas music on cassettes as well as some old timers. I also have tapes of TV shows (before we got a VCR I taped the audio), and a recording of a psychic reading.

It's strange to hear that people still have these and still use them after all this technology we have now. very surprising. I was curious to know because things seem to be getting phased out quickly in the "music" department...i-pod's are the hot new item.

Shipping costs for the US are pretty high. I'm not a major music buff so it doesn't concern me. What really bothers me is all my vinyls sitting in a box in the basement. I would love to be able to transfer those onto CD. A machine to do that (turntable with burner) costs a couple of hundred dollars.

Patgalca, believe it or not cassettes are still out there and about 1/3 of the cost of CDs, but you need to know where to look. I get mine from e-bay and a place called The Music Locator. You can get good deals on e-bay, but sometimes they are in sad shape, so you have to be prepared to gamble a little. You should check out The Music Locator's list of cassettes. They sell new and used tapes that are in great shape for as little as $3.99 plus S&H. http://www.themusiclocator.com their cassette list is at http://www.angelfire.com/biz/musicsale/cassette.html

I still have quite a few actually. Most of what I have is music, although I have a few with sermons as well. Right now thats all my husband has in his truck which he basically lives in, and what my daughter has in her room.

I asked cause my husband use to DJ back in the day :) and we came across a TON of tapes he had in boxes over 300 of them! we gave them away cause we have no use for them now-a-days, I wonder if the woman I gave them to kept them or kept passing them along :)

I still have cassettes and play them often! I get sentimental attachments to certain tapes b/c I've had them since I was a kid (LOL) ... I've got vinyls too, but would like to burn them onto CD. Some songs I've got on Cassette are rare and haven't been able to find them over the net or in shops. The problem with cassettes though, is they can loose their quality of sound or the cassette player chews them!!
