We've always grown up having dessert or sweets as some may call it after dinner. Something nice like fruit and jelly or cake and cream, or even just icecream. My friends who grew up across the road from me never had this at their place and used to loove coming over to my house for dinner lol. I also found that it was a great incentive for us to eat all our dinner (and the vegies lol).Im just wondering does your family have dessert and do you think its a good incentive to get your kids to eat their dinner?

No, we do not have sweets or dessert commonly after dinner.
My kids are not allowed to have loads of sugar because they are already hyper as it is! LOL And when there are 7 of them...I try to not get burned by the fire that is already brewing. LOL
When there is a dessert though, it does not always motivate them to eat their dinner. They are bargaining. LOL And if they do not get to have the dessert...because it does not happen too often...they get really upset. Plus, I would rather them fill up on the good stuff instead of saving room or overeating to get the sweets.

It really depends on what night of the week it is. If Eddie has gone to band practice, then we may just have doritos when he comes back in. The other nights we usually have ice cream. It depends on how much we had to eat for dinner.

Our kids didn't know what candy was until about 4 years of age or so. We do have dessert after some of our meals, not all the time. Around birthdays it is cake. Holidays are cookies and pies. Ice cream is on and off all summer.
We have rule that you can eat all you want as long as you don't waste anything. So take just what looks like what you can eat. The idea is not to waste food.
Since desserts tend not to be real food, it is ok if they waste some of that. That is, when they get it.

When I was growing up we used to have dessert after dinner most nights. It would usually be fruit salad and ice cream or yoghurt in the summer and puddings in the winter.
My husband and I don't have children so we don't bother with dessert much. Sometimes a piece of fruit or some yoghurt but that's about it.

Sometimes I have dessert after dinner. Especially when I'm eat outside not at home, like restaurant or cafe. My favourite dessert is ice cream. It feels good to eat ice cream after dinner. I like vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate ice cream for this. Yummy =)

I tend to make a dessert. It is a preference of mine. For whatever reason, I like something a bit sweet after dinner. I always have. My mother only made dessert about half of the time, but there were always cookies or ice cream sandwiches to be found if you really wanted them.

After dinner,i always eat fruits because fruits make me healthy and look younger. I also eat ice cream, I like rasberry sorbet. It is best flavor that i love!!from haagendaz. Sometimes, i ate the corn pie and strawberry cheesecake;is also my favorite dessert. Yummy!!!!! But for your kids, fruit is good for healthy. There are many vitamins in there, you might not to give the same fruit because it makes your kids bored and didn't eat it. it is good to let them eat by themselves because they can help themselves.
