I had someone in my life that was like a second father to me. I had known him since I was very young and he was always there to help me out when I got in trouble. He was very smart and always helped me figure out my problems. He was one of my best friends. He went into the hospital for bypass surgery. They say it is a relatively easy surgery these days. He got through the surgery fine, but had complications and went into a coma. When I got the call I just couldn't handle it. He was in a coma and I went to the hospital to say my goodbyes. One of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I remember the last time I talked to him. He said that surgery was no problem and that he would see me in a couple of days. He said that he loved me. That was the last time I spoke to him. He has been gone for about 4 years and I still miss him. Have you lost someone that close to you and how do you handle it??????

Yes, I have lost people very close to me and the true is I always take it extremely bad. I always feel guilty for whatever reason you can imagine, from not telling to them how much close I felt to them, or for not being able to go to the hospital and visiting them (I live in a different country than myown), or for whatever.
It keeps being one of my greatest fears, to lose some of "my people", my beloved ones, while I am abroad, and not being able to spend time with them, to help them or whatever. Thinking of how many things I have left "unspoken" with various people who have a big age, makes me always nervous

Yes I have, one is Grandmother and it did take me a while to get over this and also 2 years before that a very lovely Lady who was my second Grandmother and if it wasn't for her looking after me and being there for me as well as my Grandmother I would not be the Person I am today. I dealt with it by knowing after a while that they have left Life but not left me they are with me all the time.

I have lost many people that are close to me but the two that are very dear to my hear still is my Brother and my step father. My brother was hard because he was killed on his 16th birthday and it was in the car in front of me.

i was close to my grandma. i lost her when i was about to finish college. she didn't even have the chance to see me graduate thats why it was so hard for me. she was bed-ridden for 2weeks and i didn't have the chance either to take care of her, that was even more frustrating! i was so loaded in school. when school was almost off, when i could have the chance to take care of her, she passed away.

closest i've lost is my two grandfathers and one of my grandmothers. It is very sad when it happens..especially when they suffer an illness for a long period of time, which happened in two of the cases. Anyway i guess that's life.
