Let the Sunshine In!

For the last week I have gotten into the habit of opening my blinds and letting sunlight in during the day. There is something about it that makes me feel better. Do you open your blinds or curtains? I used to leave them shut 24/7.

Yeah, they say leaving your blinds shut or painting your room dark colors or having dark paneling can cause depression. I always open blinds and curtains first thing when I wake up...then there is less temptation to go back to sleep, lol.

Yes, I leave for work early every morning but before I leave, even though it is still dark, I always make sure to open all the blinds or curtains. I always love the smell when I come back. Everywhere smells fresh and I can tell it's the sun because if it is a rainy day and the sun doesn't come out, the house feels humid and cold. I have a cosy home when the sun decides to come out!!

I open my blinds a lot. Especially in the winter when I don't get out as much. It always helps put me in better spirits. Especially because in the winter months it is so easy to get down!

I always open my blinds and curtains! Study after study, (plus I have seen it first hand) point to the effects of sunlight/ natural light on our serotonin levels and thus our mood! Many people with mild depression are helped simply by sitting under light therapy ...never needing medicine! It's just too easy to fall in a comfort zone with the blinds shut and recoil into our own little world. Too easy to become a recluse and not remember that there is life outside of those blinds!

mr golden sun - please shine down on me!
I live in the basement apartment of a house, so i can't get any sunlight in here if i tried! lol and i dont like people being able to look in as they walk past, so i usually keep them closed. but i try to get the baby and myself out for a walk at least 20 minutes a day although that is difficult at the moment because of the cold weather. BURR. we have been inside nearly a week straight. PLEASE WINTER GO AWAY SO WE CAN Go out and play! we are both getting a little stir crazy if you ask me.

yes of course the sunshine is full of vitamin D! we all must have some! if it is winter, and the sun does not shine much, i go to a tanning salon and catch some rays there. not alot, but it really makes me feel so much better-and a little color doesn't hurt either!!!

Sun shine is a natural germ killer and you have to let it in whenever possible. Even in this part of the world, where it is really warm and dusty, we open our doors and windows, early in the morning and let sunshine come through. We are compelled to close them by 4.30 evening cos otherwise, we will have to entertain all the deadly mosquitoes (LOL)

i have to have the blinds and curtains open! i have to let in any amount of sunshine i possibly can, winter or summer! I love sunlight, it makes me feel so much better, and i would have a lot more windows and bigger ones in my house if i could. i hate having a room dark..it makes me feel so dreary! Sunlight is SO good for you and your outlook, your overall disposition, and your health!

I do belive that there is something about the sun that makes you feel better. However I don´t open them that often and thats because if I do,, all my neighbours can see right in and that is something I don´t want!

hey there -- well i'm a preacher of the dark. LOL. in simpler words - i just love sitting in the dark whenever i can. like when i sleep there shud be no lights on, blinds have to be kept shut all the time in my house - i don't stand in the sun either... but i'm totally different on my vacations when i'm off to the beach -- i love the sun there and it is indeed very relaxing to soak in the sun rays. but then it is different when you are on a beach bed with sun tan lotion and waves around you :)

I also used to leave them shut and still I sme times leave them shut, but yes I will not deny that opening the blinds and curtains it most certainly infuses you with a lot of positive energy. The sunshine always makes me feel positive so when ever I am feeling some what low I would just open the doors and the windows and stare outside or just stay in my balcony and keep on feeling the sun. It really helps Any ways Take Care May GOD Bless YOU

I usually have all the blinds and curtains closed. I like it nice and dark in the house, but I have got in the habit now of opening up all the windows one day a week and letting the fresh air in for a couple of hours...that is very refreshing.

My house is very bright and sunny so sometimes I don't open my curtains up. But if I'm feeling blue, I go into the front rooms of my house which are super sunny, and I do get cheered up instantly.

I always open the blinds and let the sun in to brighten up my rooms. The only time I ever leave them shut in the daytime is if we're having a blizzard and the wind is hitting the side of the house with the big picture window. I can't stand it if I can't see outside and look at the weather and nature and all. I don't have seasonal affective disorder, but having them open and the sunlight streaming in always makes me feel good.

Sunshine increases seritonin production, Endomorphins, as is a natural way to relieve depression and fatigue. I have SAD depression. So I may it a habit to try to watch at least one sunrise or sunset daily and to get 2-4 hrs of good sunshine a day. This keeps me energetic healthy and happy. :) . - DNatureofDTrain

I open my blinds every day. I love seeing the sun shine in. The only time I have them closed is at night cause I don't want people looking in.

I always have the curtians and blinds open. I have no one to peep in anyway. I enjoy the sunlight and so do my plants. You can never get enough sunlight. It is very healthy to let te sunshine in.

Sunlight definitely makes me feel a lot better, but I live in a basement apartment so I very rarely get a chance to let any sunlight in there.
