I like the doll but I do think they are pretty expensive to buy. You can only buy them on the American Girl Web site or at their few American Girl stores. And of course every little girl wants one. And the clothes and accessories are also very expensive. That's probably why I make my own American Girl Doll clothes. I sell them on eaby. My seller name is lonewolfer54. Have you bought an American Girl Doll for someone??? Do you think the price is way too high???

I got an American Girl doll when I was young - it was a pretty expensive toy, but I knew that I couldn't play with it the same way that I played with my stuffed animals - I always took good care of my Molly doll! I would save up my birthday and Christmas money to buy her clothes and accessories. I also would buy some handmade clothes for her, normally at craft fairs. When I have a daughter, I would definitely get her an American Girl doll. I think they're a high-quality and nice toy, and if you get into the whole historical fiction stories, like I did, they can be very educational!

I have an American Girl doll! Kirsten. They are expensive, but they're very well made and a portion of the money goes to charity, which is awesome. So I don't mind the price, really. Iv'e also seen used ones for less money, but still in good condition. Do you make good money off the clothes you make? I'll have to check them out!

My niece showed me a catalog and my eyes popped at the sight of the cost! No way would I have ever bought something so expensive for my kids. Even if they were to be used as part of a collection.

I've never bought one for someone but when we were younger my younger sister just had to have one so my parents got her the Samantha doll with some clothes. I thought it was absolutely ridiculous to give a young child an expensive doll like that, especially since all she did with it was take all the clothes off and leave the doll lying under her bed. It was only a matter of a couple of weeks before she forgot about that must-have doll completely. I think it's one thing if you're a doll collector or if you're giving the doll to an older child that will appreciate it, but they're just too expensive to be tossed under a bed or something.
