A friend off mine changes her whole livingroom every 3 years. Everyting is new a totally make-over. I don't know how she does it but verything has to be different. We instead live on the same things for 10 years now. I also want something new but we simply can't afford it. I trie to do it with little things. Different pillows at the sofa, different collors of candles and so one. It looks a little bit different then. Do you also change a lot?

When it makes you feel good and you can afford it why not.

Hi there! We only change our furniture when it's too disgraceful and tatty to look at! At the moment we are on our 2nd sofa and chairs and one of the chairs has a rip in the arm. No doubt we'll live with that until our pup pulls all the stuffing out! Like you we've lived with our stuff, which is mainly pre-loved for a large number of years. I like to move the furniture around occasionally, especially in the lounge room to make things look a bit different. I update the cushion covers occasionally but that's about all. Anything else is just too expensive - I don't know how your friend affords it or why she does it! lol

it seems that your friend is rich and do not care to spend much money on furniture. be economical please, there are lot of areas for human being where he can spend money like education, entertainment, computer, travelling by air, i could not count it on my finger. so please save your money for other purpose also.

I change things every 5-10 years depending on what it is or if it needs to be updated. My couch needed to be updated because now I have kids and it was not kid friendly. I had to get another one and it had been 5 years. I won't update though unless I really really don't like something or if it's broken usually. I just don't have the money to do that.

I guess I'm different from most of my friends who also seem to pop up with a new sofa or overstuffed chair every year.
I worked hard to get my house just the way I want it, and that's the way it's going to stay.
Maybe other people wonder if I'm too poor to buy a new lamp, or table, but I like the ones I have and since I'm the one who gets to live with them, there will probably only be a change in scenery around here if the furniture rots beyond use. (Even then, I would probably search the world over until I found exact duplicates to replace them.)

It's good to do it the way you do. It isn't nessecary to change thing you like when they are still in good shape and you still like them.

I'd like to be in a position to do that....I rented the house I'm in,furnished, for a few years, then got the opportunity to buy it complete with contents,so I still have all the stuff that was here, plus stuff I have from my Grandparent's home when they passed on..It's not a big house, but it gets cluttered..not Kim and Aggie bad,but I'd like sometime to get it a makeover! :)
